Re: Incoming! What have you got in the mail?

Inspired by @Conchita Turtle’s excellent writeup on the history of Citizen, I took a chance on this Cosmotron 0840. Hoping it still functions. 110BD7C9-BA87-470A-84AD-87010AF7A53D.jpeg 308D4754-9DD3-4FD8-AE95-57BE9048804A.jpeg 592DCF93-43AF-4DAE-8B23-7D81C13D1428.jpeg https://external-content.duckd...

Children on a carousel by the marina. Today is Epiphany, the day of the Three Wise Men, when children (and not so children) receive their toys and gifts. Last day of Christmas in Spain... and last day of holidays for me.

Re: Working on it...The best quartz ever made. Citizen "The Citizen" 0100 caliber, and a little history of the firm.

Well, let's go to the mother of all quartzes. In 2018, they present a pocket watch with a sapphire case, a unique 1/1 edition, as the star watch in Basel to commemorate the firm's centenary. https://www.citizenwatch-global.com/100th/images/product/kv_caribre.png It's not too flashy up front. But it ...

Re: Working on it...The best quartz ever made. Citizen "The Citizen" 0100 caliber, and a little history of the firm.

Until now, "The Citizen" had no competitor in the market. Officially, the Grand Seiko 9F declared a conservative 10 seconds per year, although its users refer much less. But Longines has also resurrected old acronyms, VHP, "Very High Precision", with a thermo-compensated quartz with a perpetual cale...

Re: Working on it...The best quartz ever made. Citizen "The Citizen" 0100 caliber, and a little history of the firm.

Again we moved with the DeLorean in time. Year 1995. Citizen presents two novelties. It takes back the sundials I referred to above, which were initially unsuccessful, with the EcoDrive, which once charged has autonomy for half a year. Seen in perspective it seems to me that this is a solution that,...

Re: Working on it...The best quartz ever made. Citizen "The Citizen" 0100 caliber, and a little history of the firm.

Let's go a little ahead of time. Although we usually talk about Seiko Astron as the great watchmaking revolution, it was the last logical step after a few years when several of its commercial rivals started electrifying their watches. Lip from France and Hamilton vie to be the parents of the first e...

The best quartz ever made. Citizen "The Citizen" 0100 caliber, and a little history of the manufacture.

Citizen is one of those brands that, like Seiko, is Japanese and specializes in popularly priced quartzes. Perhaps that's why, when making high-end pieces, its " lowly " name makes many potential customers think of Swiss when spending a luxury watch. Intangibles and such, what can I say... Just as t...

I don't know the brand, but it's a very nice watch.

Well done on the strap. I'm not a fan of alligator-print watch bands either.

Funny thing about the symbol at 7:00. At first glance it reminded me of that logo worn by the singer Prince.

Re: Beard growing pains

I must be the only one who's ever been shaved... Maybe due to habit. The thing is, I used to shave once a week, and my skin got really irritated. Until I changed the shaving system. I removed spray foams, and I removed multiblade head razors, for brushes a good soap, usually from my city's brand, Le...
