Re: Making Sense of Movements: Info Thread
The following is all only what I've read, not personal evaluation , and since I was taking notes for my own reference at the time I didn't bother keeping exhaustive citations. YMMV, batteries not included. •ETA2892, introduced in the '70s, essentially a more advanced/accurate 2824; only available in...

Re: What is your unrealized dream watch?
I know, I know, an automatic movement with a true moonphase complication is so much more intricate and impressive. But for me, a quartz makes more sense for keeping track of the lunar cycle. I don't want to have to set it each and every time I wear the thing. The only problem is that every quartz m...

Re: Help me find a bargain thread
Hoping to find an inexpensive ladies watch for my children's teacher. Maybe $20-$30. I'd contend that if she's not a watch nerd already, one needing the least maintenance would be more likely not to wind up forgotten in a drawer once the battery runs down. So I dug around a bit for some solar optio...

Re: Help me find a bargain thread
Has anyone come across any good deals on the Wolf Windsor 10-piece watch boxes or something comparable? I see the purple one on Amazon $87.79 , which seems like a lukewarm price. Looking to upgrade from my current cheapo watch box. Thank you in advance! Have you seen these yet? https://www.touchofm...

Eterna Heritage 1948 Automatic Watch - $395 from Ashford w/ code DMDOUBLE11 Get an additional 3% cash back through Rakuten. 40mm. Sellita SW300-1 , so basically a ETA 2892 equivalent (better and more expensive movement by most accounts) rather than the SW200 which is the 2824 clone. This is $24 che...

Re: Mistake of the Day
I was nearly sold on the traditional Le Locle signature and picture of classical chic, but in the end it was just a regular watch.

Re: Help me find a bargain thread
Hahaha, yeah im so sorry for my poor wording. Eh, I'd been yapping on about my Airman so much I figured it was obligatory for me to say something there. Don't worry, no offense was taken; I'm mostly just having fun around here, plus I also have a Tissot which I also enjoy... Last year i bought a co...

Re: Citizen quartz arrived not working
I've never seen an eco drive (=solar watch from Citizen) that does not say it on the dial before, is this possible ? Anything's possible except skiing through revolving doors. It'd be a bit odd for them to be coy about it though. I initially replied before looking up too much info since I was conce...

Re: Watches and Beverages. Show what you got!
Rather delayed post.
Not usually my first beverage pick, it just really hit the spot during those heat waves this summer. Invicta's not my generally preference either, so I guess they go together in that sense.- Thu Oct 10, 2019 11:58 am

Re: Grab and go!
My default's still the Airman.
I know, I'm boring. Still quite pleased with it though! And it seems appropriate enough for slumming it over a few pints.- Thu Oct 10, 2019 8:26 am

Re: Citizen quartz arrived not working
Cold can certainly affect batteries, though that might not be relevant here. The watch you linked is an Eco-Drive model, which is solar, which means you shouldn't ever need to change the battery--or at least not for another 20-40 years, and it should be done by Citizen or one of their authorized ser...
