10k posts! Look like we'll hit close to 500 members by the end of the month.

Total members is deceiving though. If you've been watching the growing list of members, especially over the past few weeks, you've seen that increasingly many of our new members have zero posts and very spammy websites associated with their accounts. It would be great if those new members from Togo and Uzbekistan were actual people and real watchgeeks with something to contribute but I'm afraid not. Hopefully there is no actual harm in having these bots(or whatever they are) in our ranks. What love to know if anyone has ideas about how all those accounts get created.

Very good point. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a maintenance process to disable any accounts that have 0 posts after 90 days? Seems if you can’t contribute even a single “Got my answer” post in 3 months, then you might be a bot, or worse.

Or a spammer, like the one last week who posted religious crypto currency propaganda in nearly every thread. But yeah...spies, too. :D

Saw a big boost in membership after MoT made the deals threads visible only to members! And that was just a few days ago (2/25?).

Member number is about to go down.

I don't like to do it, because it does impact SEO, but I am going to delete a large number of obvious spammer/bots.

"spammer/bots"

The propagators of them should burn in hell!

Here is some behind-the-scenes info some of you might find interesting:

We're getting roughly 9k unique visits a month with an about 6% increase in unique visits month-to-month. We're on track to have the best month yet; we're at 42% of February's unique visitors as of today (March 8).

Page views and hits are approximately 830,000 page views and 1.8 million hits per month. Those numbers are increasing by roughly 11% month-to-month.

As for data, we're transferring roughly 53GB per month with similar increases as the other stats.

We're growing, slowly but surely.
