May 4th Star Wars Trivia
Since I keep seeing “May the 4th be with you” Star Wars references, I have a Star Wars trivia question for you. One of my friends who works in the movie industry has the original set props that were Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader’s Lightsabers. I was pretty amazed to find out what they used to create them.
Can you guess which piece of equipment was the original Luke Skywalker Lightsaber fashioned from?

Re: May 4th Star Wars Trivia
Camera equipment of some kind.
I'd have to look it up to recall the specific item.
Reports were the part used to be SUPER cheap and easy to find, until word got out.

I'm pretty sure I know, but I'm not going to spoil it for others.

Re: May 4th Star Wars Trivia
It was a Graflex flash extension. Something like this.
I bought this about twenty years ago. Vintage camera enthusiasts were (and am sure still are) getting upset that Star Wars fans were turning them into lightsabers, so I bought this already partially modded and haven’t touched it since.
Thanks for making me dig in the closet. I’m supposed to be working, guys!
Next question please

Re: May 4th Star Wars Trivia
Alright, a tougher one then...
Where is the studio where the models for Star Wars and Indiana Jones were created?
Hint: it also houses a famous screening room where the standards for THX certification were developed by Tom Holman

Re: May 4th Star Wars Trivia
It was, now 32ten Studios...at 3210 Kerner Blvd in San Rafael, CA. George Lucas had the screening room put in and used it heavily. The ILM guys pulled together and bought the studio when the lease for their facilities in Oakland were non-renewed. They had the theater renovated, but left one of the seats untouched, where purportedly Tim Leary’s boots had worn the back of the headrest. Have seen a few movies in that theater, thanks to a friend who works there.Sporkboy wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 5:37 pmIndustrial Light and Magic AKA: ILMwatchpalooza wrote:Alright, a tougher one then...
