So the cannonball run was broken during the COVID shutdown. Makes sense. Hell, wish I thought of it! 26 hours 38 minutes in an Audi A8L. While I don't condone the irresponsible actions, I don't not condone them either[emoji23].

This brought up a question for the fellow fuel sniffers though. If you were to attempt such a run, what car do you choose? The successful runs have been inconspicuous cars such as the aforementioned A8 and the prior record was a CL55 AMG.

I am thinking a '07-09 E63 wagon. Under the radar, stupid fast, and a cargo area to carry extra fuel. I'd prefer to own an E39 540/6spd, but for this particular journey, I think the MB wins out.

What would you guys choose?!?

Second choice would be a late '90s Lexus LS400. Pure comfort, silky smooth V8 with Toyota reliablitly. And blends in like no other.

2005-2011 Lincoln Town Car with a Gen III Coyote swap, and a fuel cell taking up the trunk.

I'd still want to do the engine swap, making the cost of entry much lower with the Town Car.

Of course it would have to have HTRDLNC plates. :D

I am just looking at stock vehicles (except for added fuel cell), because with enough time and money you could start to get real crazy -- Hellcat engine in an Avalon or something.

My initial thoughts were the last generation Volvo XC70, but even with the V6 it's only 300hp, which I am not sure is enough. So I think it would be interesting to try it with a new V60 Polestar plug-in hybrid. 415 hp and 490 ft.-lb. of torque combined. Just the gas engine is about 330/320. I am not sure that it would work well, since you cannot stop to plug in. The car can charge the battery while driving, so I think there would be enough high speed (but low power needed) cruising to recharge the battery and maintain speed so that you'd have the full hp/tq when you needed it. It may fail spectacularly but it would be fascinating.

Well if we’re going to do that, there will be a Durango Hellcat for 2021. Remove the third row of seats and put a fuel cell in the space.

You buy and drive, and I'll navigate.

Didn't get a picture, but I saw a MINT Maserati bi-turbo today. I thought these were all dead, but it was on the road, driving! My wife couldn't understand why I was excited about such a car, so I figured I should at least share here where there is a chance someone else thinks it's a cool sighting[emoji16]

Italian design, F1 pedigree and technical innovation (first production twin-turbo car, first production 3-valve engine). A person still has to be a bit of a masochist to own one.

Just got my JB4 back from Burger. They are an awesome company! I bought my JB4 off a guy on Audi World, but it had issues after I installed. Tons of CELs and stalling. Emailed back and forth with Burger to troubleshoot but couldn't get it fixed. They told me to send to them so they could look at it. Couple of the chips were swapped and backwards. They fixed it and even gave me the upgraded aluminum billet case! They did all of this at no charge for a second hand purchase!

Anyways, got it installed and the added kick is AWESOME!!! Went out and immediately did several pulls. Can't wait to take it to the track!!!!

For the Cannonball run, being an Audi guy I'd obviously pick a B9 RS4 Avant.
