As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

So I'm banned from watchuseek... Again!

New message from WuS:

“You have been banned for the following reason:
Multiple Accounts - If You Play Stupid Games You'll Win Stupid Prizes

Date the ban will be lifted: Never“

And on the other account, which was not lifted despite being a temp ben that was to end in Janurary:

“You have been banned for the following reason:
Multiple Account Troll

Date the ban will be lifted: Never“

I had tried first to contact admins about lifting the ban, but you know how that goes over there. So I created the new account. Of course I was playing with fire. Oddly, I feel no loss. What complete dicks.

Welcome to the club, how tough are ya?

Also just use a VPN because they can't do anything about it at that point.

Not sure how others are getting banned on WUS, but I'd suggest not posting there. I"m down in my posts there by at least 70% and haven't posted in the deal section in at least 3 months since the kerfuffle. In fact, I don't even read much there any more.

That is nearly exactly what happened to me. My only regret is that it's made selling watches much, much more difficult.

OK, so how do we get MOT listings to show up on watchrecon?

I contacted them a while ago. They said they liked the site but declined for the time being because, rightfully, we aren't very large (yet).

There may be something else in the works.

I did, too. I’ve tried to get two other spinoffs on there and wasn’t successful, but honestly wasn’t really trying hard. Let’s keep up the pressure.

@robotazky
Sounds good. I have at least one watch to sell, so I will post it here when I am ready to do that. I was also thinking of contacting watchrecon, and I will do that as well.

The admins caught up: "Actually it is against our rules to discuss and belittle other communities here ..." The post has a deceptively righteous tone -- makes me sick, knowing how they behave.

I have found it very interesting to watch -- in real time -- how and why suppression of speech occurs. (I hereby christen WUS = Watch Ur Speech!) The couple of WUS threads I've seen that touch on the schism show how effective the suppression is: people raise valid questions, but only approved answers are permitted. The illusion is maintained.

In the past I wouldn't have thought too much about rules like theirs. I would give them the benefit of the doubt. But now I see how dangerous they are. Why should they be afraid of discussing other forums? Why should they be afraid of discussions about site administration or moderation?

I feel wiser for this experience. And I am most grateful to ManOnTime for creating this new oasis. May it live long and prosper!

If you have been banned try unpluging your router, it should change yous isp or what ever the numberis called associated with your online connection.

Use another email account, has worked in the past for a golfing forum that had zero tolerance.

I like wus for other threads but they killed my one thread I checked every day.

With ISPs, there's often a lease time on the IP address. So power cycling the router may have no effect if it's not time for the IP address to change.

One of the easiest ways to change your IP is to use a free anonymous proxy server:
