Abbey Road said yes to removing the tax.

Basically any vendor that does not ship internationally will not remove the tax. I think it's been mentioned before, but even international vendors will not remove the tax when you choose to ship to a Japan domestic address, such as RGX package forwarding service.

Tokeikan removed tax for me.

but plenty of sellers who do ship international choose not to remove the tax even upon request....

15% rebate showed up today for a purchase on the 13th!

Update: CLOSER confirmed that they do remove tax, even refunded me the tax this time, despite it was shipped to RGX address within Japan. Thumbs up for customer service. CS at this level is rarely seen among Japanese business.

The Rakuten/Ebates sagas continue. Had some cashback disappear from my account last night. Filed a missing cash back report and got this response:

Does anyone have a screenshot of the terms/conditions from the 22% cashback at the end of April?

What is Rakuten Ichiba exactly? It looks like it’s just Rakuten Global, but it’s hard to tell.

That's basically what I said. This was an order for an Oris Aquis from Kaitorikomachi, same as every other RGM purchase I've ever made. Sent screenshots of my check out page and the original link to the item on RGM. We'll see what they say.

From outside looking in, would they consider Rakuten Ichiba to be Japanese only site opposed to the Global Marketplace?

The only reference I could find to Ichiban is Rakuten’s Taiwan marketplace:

Not sure that this will help as its a few days before your purchase on 4/26 when cash back was still at 16%.

Rakuten Ichiba, ichiba means market. I found this page about Rakuten Ichiba with a direct link to shop in English at RakutenGlobal market.

Maybe they differentiate since the Japanese site has many more products and these discounts are targeted to the US market.

Has anyone had their credit posted this last round from a purchase made in Rakuten Ichiba Japanese site?

The uncertainty surrounding Rakuten’s discounts makes them a non-starter for me. Too many horror stories to make it worth the risk.
