I totally would have understood if AT had cancelled my order. The fact they shipped it reflects well on them IMO. I wasn’t ever actually expecting to receive a watch when I ordered.

Both AT and MG could stand some improvement in their communication practices.

It seems this is turning out to be a case of incompetence or an error compounded by poor customer service from both companies.

I have been busy but just checked my credit card account: 2 charges on 09/06, 2 refunds on 09/10. All's well that ends well. As I mentioned earlier this was an obvious pricing mistake and I fully expected it to be cancelled - in a professional manner. I wonder if the $999 Casio is still there. lol

Not placing the charge through until ordered was processed and a simple email explaining a pricing mistake was made would have gone a long ways in gaining reputable vendor status in my book, and would have been the end of it.

Hope some others get lucky.

What a mess.
Another winner........... and the saga continues. Orders cancelled, credit card refunded but I'm going to check my mailbox anyway.

I do, but only so far as nothing I was have been told has been consistent. I didn't have any communication whatsoever until I contacted AreaTrend. First they said it was a low-stock issue. I then pointed out that their site and other sites they sell on show the items still in stock. Then they said it was a Massgenie issue. I then asked why my card was hard-charged. Then they changed their story again and said it was a price mistake.

I mean come on, get your crap together before dealing with the customer! I don't want something for nothing, but at least be straight with me.

My one, non-canceled deal did come in. I like it, but I'm not sure I'm going to keep it, return it or try to flip it. The drilled lugs are a nice surprise!

In the spirit of providing play-by-play updates, I got a response from AT to my email about a partial refund. (About 11hrs turnaround time.)

---
Thank you for letting us know about your issue. Typically it will take 5-7
business days to replace the funds from an authorization hold. If for some
reason the funds do not show up in time after this period please let us know so
we can look further into the issue and resolve it for you.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to
contact us.

Thank you and have a good day.
---

Not super helpful on two fronts:
1. As far as I understand, this is not an "authorization hold" issue, there was a hard charge.
2. It has been 7 days since they notified me that one of the watches was out of stock...so...I guess I'll wait a few more days?

And at least a couple of us have gotten refunds already.

It honestly feels like they're scrambling. I'm not going to press them too hard since I got 3 x $100+ watches for $78.

FWIW I just received a variation on Rick's cs message from AT. I ordered from MG Saturday (9/7) evening. Looking at our CC statement, MG charged us 9/7 then refunded us 9/10.

From AreaTrend: "We are contacting you to let you know that there was a technical issue with the site and the pricing of the item(s) you have ordered was incorrect. For this reason, we are unable to complete the sale and your order has been canceled at this time. We do hope you will consider shopping with us again in the future!"

I never heard anything from Massgenie.

So should both AT and MG be added to the fecal roster? 8-)

I've got a pretty good idea what I could get for it if I sold on eBay, etc. Obviously I'm not going to sell it for that much to a well-established member here.

Shoot me an offer if you're really interested in it.

Latest response from AT regarding the refund I never got for the 4th watch.

Hello,

Thank you for your email! We have reviewed your order and see that our
accounting department contact Massgenie on 9/10 to confirm that this
authorization was released on their end. We would suggest contacting Massgenie
directly as they do not provide us with your payment details.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us
again. We are happy to help in any way we can!

Thank you and have a good day,

I don't know what the hell this means for me as a custmer. I'm going to try Massgenie on Monday since they're closed over the weekend. If they can't resolve it immediately, I'm inclined to not waste any more of my time on this.

Yep. Same here. AT is the one that claimed they were going to do the partial refund that never happened. I'm pretty ready to be done with this experiment.
