As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

eBay Seller watchgrabber

Post by MoT »

On 8/24/2020 I purchased a Victorinox Swiss Army I.N.O.X. Professional Diver 241734.1 eBay seller watchgrabber for $182.92 plus tax, roughly $195 total.

The watch was listed as "New With Tags". I received it today 8/27/2020, and it is not new. At best it is a display model, at worst a used watch being sold as new.

There were no plastics on it, and after removing the rubber bumper I discovered scratches, dings and gouges on both the case and bezel. Pics below.

I have contacted the seller to see how they'd like to resolve this. I'll update this if I hear anything.

Wow that is not even close. Frankly if I bought a display model that looked like that it'd be borderline.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

Is there an eBay description for, "Scratched to $#!+ With Tags"?
Just my $0.02 USD as always.

That's very disappointing. After seeing the box mine came in without any paperwork I suspected these may be returns and display models. I may have got lucky, mine looks new. Let's see what others get.

Return shouldn't be a problem.

Update: Seller offered $40 for me to keep it, or a full refund with return. I chose to return and further stated that the watch was not in the condition they advertised.

Seller's rep mentioned that given my comments they would "look over the condition of their stock more closely".

Watch is now on it's way back.

Best resolution.
They didn't sell you a new watch, a return was the best you could ask for if an exchange was not possible.

No, I asked for and they issued a paid UPS label.

They have received the return, and I have received a full refund. I consider the matter closed.

I can’t stop thinking of Mr. Banana Grabber from Arrested Devlopment...

I guess it would just be a guy who, you know, grabs bananas and runs. Or a banana that grabs things. I don't know. Why would a banana grab another banana? I mean those are the kind of questions I don't want to answer.
