Well, who knows what the newest version of the watch will look like, but here's some (pretty messy) photoshopping of the old dial.
Interestingly, the old version's hour and seconds hands are pretty close to standard cathedral hands. I didn't replace the seconds hand, and got the cathedral hand examples from here:
https://www.namokimods.com/products/wat ... bd79&_ss=r
CinCyMOT.jpg
(I took off the name of the watch and added "Ltd. Ed. 2020" for fun. I know that we probably can't mod the dial, but since it sounds like there will be some changes to the watch anyway, I figured why not...)
The original hands might have a special name, but I thought of them as sword/syringe hybrids and I kind of like them.

I am assuming that the hand lume would match the dial lume should we go with cathedral hands. I like that Cathedral hands add a nod to trench watches, but the current handset is well thought out and works well.

However, only Matt and Rick, and probably a bunch of people I don’t know, know what the new model has in store for us.

CincinnatiWatchCo wrote: Tue Jun 02, 2020 7:39 pm To clear some things up:

1. We can do a fully custom project and to meet minimum orders we would need at least 125-150 people commiting to the project just to barely break even, or have a above market price attached to each piece.

2. Cathedral hands I think will be an easy add. I will have to confirm but I want to wait on consensus before I start putting my supply chain to work. I don't think this would increase the cost.

3. I can do a custom caseback engraving without driving the price up much or at all. What gets complicated or would potentially be a price hike is individual numberings or markings. If they are all the same, no problem. I.E. We can put a logo and "Special Edition 1 of 50" or however many it ends up being, but putting each users handle on the watch would certainly be an expensive add.

4. For point 2 and 3 above if the costs are not too overboard I would likely absorb them, and make the watch equal in price to my normal pre-order offering price or maybe even better depending upon how many are interested. One thing that will happen is a portion of the sale of these Cincinnatus Field Watches will go to the FreeStore Foodbank. This is a commitment I made to them for this watch and I intend to honor it.

5. Once some consensus is made I will provide nice renderings.

6. Before anybody makes up your minds you need to see the changes we have already made, I promise, you'll like them... I hope to reveal them this month, will know more soon. I have ideas for customization within the groups own customizations, you'll have more choices then just the hands and caseback.

Does it really though? So many things are different. A watch that actually looks like that Hamilton is this Timex Expedition Metal Field.

I agree that design by committee is generally a bad idea. Given Rick/CWC's track record, I think I would trust him for any design changes. Even so I'm adding my preferences here. I really, really like the Cincinattus. It's a watch I would love to wear whether or not there was any connection to this forum. So there probably is not much I would change here. And I love cathedral hands but that means I already have a number of watches with them. So I would probably prefer the tapered hands from the original instead. If the dial were to changed at all, I'd prefer it not have the forum logo. Maybe have the Cincinattus Field text replaced with the name of the forum though. I suspect the coming iteration will have drilled lugs. If not, I'd love to see them added. I like the second hand, but don't love it. Maybe a different counterbalance would help? I hope the size stays the same, it's perfect. I don't have any real preference for what goes on the caseback but hopefully some mention of the forum. I agree it might be better to view this one as a crowdfunded collab rather than a forum watch.

A word about pricing. I feel pretty certain we will be leaving a lot of people out with this one. I suspect that even among the people that voted for the Cincinattus, a fair percentage have a very different idea about what the price will be compared to what it might actually be in the end. The "retail price" for version one of this watch was $299. It generally sold on the site for $269. The lowest price for this was the pre-order of $239. I'm not so sure the MoT collab would/could go a whole lot lower. I'm also think that many of the members here are accustomed to paying bargain basement prices for their Seiko NH35 watches and may be surprised when they see the price of this watch. I would love to be way off-base about this. 🤞 But I guess I mention it in hopes of tempering expectations about price. And if it happens that this ends up with a price higher than some expectations and it's more of a collab, I hope people will keep in mind that there may still be opportunities for a more customized MoT watch. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the possibilities with San Martin, for instance. And if this ends up being a lower price than I'm guessing......perfect.....we'll have a lot of happy people with great-looking new watches.

And thanks Rick for this offer, I don't mean to talk about you like you're not here. I appreciate this and I'm really looking forward to seeing more about the watch.

And found another lume shot.

Juat saying...Hanhart is not a bad option personally. I have been wanting one for long, it will be even tempting to have one of an collaboration with my beloved forum. I remember that the brand had the Pioneer One model collaborated with the German watch forum. Of course, price will then be an issue.

I've been out of the watch game for a bit and been too distracted to visit here as often as I used to, but I'd totally be in for an MoT limited edition Cincinnatus! The pricing for the current watch is about right if you ask me. I feel good knowing that at least some of the proceeds will go to charity too.

I personally don't have any watches with cathedral hands, so it'd be a unique piece in my collection if this watch were to have them.

I look forward to seeing what comes of this!

Edit: If it's not too much of a hassle to add an option for people who want their forum usernames engraved on the caseback for those that want it, I'd be interested in that. I'd be fine with paying more for it (depending on cost of course) and waiting longer for the watch too. That said, if it's logistically (or otherwise) difficult, it's not something that'd stop me from buying the watch either if I couldn't have it.
