As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

SUCCESSFUL : Kickstarter: Atowak Watches - Windows and Windows Pro automatic collection

Post by TheJohnP »

I'm a sucker for quirky, so this one needs a post.

Atowak Watches out of Hong Kong have launched their first campaign for the Windows and Windows Pro automatic collection.
Atowak Watches is a brand backed by watchshopin.com, a wholesale/retail site for watches and jewelry.
And this project is already fully funded.

Early Bird pricing for the Windows automatic is around $300
Kickstarter pricing is around $331
Regular price will be $600

Early Bird pricing for the Windows pro automatic is around $325
Kickstarter pricing is around $358
Regular price will be $650

Estimated delivery is February 2021

First, let's address the name. Atowak is "Unique" passed through a Caesar cipher.

There are two models in the collection, the Windows and Windows Pro.

I think it'd be cooler if the minute and second hand were smaller and sort of on a subdial below the hour window, rather than so long and obscuring the hour window

Yeah, I kind of dig that!

I'm struggling to think when and where I would wear it, but it is pretty cool nonetheless.

I think the Pro looks a little more balanced aesthetically, but it seems to me the minute "hand" might be hard to read? The basic model seems too sparse somehow, but I think that's the one I'd go with. For me, $300 is a bit high for a "quirk" watch, but I think that's in the right range for plenty of people.
I wish that watch were 38mm?
