CANCELED: Kickstarter: Mercer Watch Co - The Sabre

Not affiliated with Mercer or this Kickstarter, but looks like this one launched recently.
Personally turned off by the mix of 12 and 60 markers on the dial.
And the crossed sabres on the second hand look like a pair of scissors.

But for those who are interested, they've launched a new auto, power reserve sports watch, The Sabre.

42mm 316L stainless steel case; 14.5mm thick; 50mm lug-to-lug
Flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating
Seiko NE57 auto movement with power reserve
Multilayered dial with SuperLuminova BG-W9
Solid engraved and press-punched caseback
Stainless oyster style bracelet and engraved clasp closure
100 meter (330 ft) water resistance
2 year limited warranty

The Sabre is our latest and boldest watch design. It features high end materials such as 316L stainless steel, sapphire crystal and Superluminova. The Sabre is also our first watch to feature a reserve indicator, so you'll always know if your watch is running low on power.

Sabre is completely custom, and has a rotating disk beneath the dial which allows for display of the movement power reserve. A flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on the inside assures both readability and scratch resistance.

Sabre production has already begun, and delivery is scheduled for the beginning of April, 2019.

That power reserve indicator is actually pretty damn cool. And the NE57.. now that's a rare and interesting movement to see since it's so new. It's based on the 4R movement and ticks at 21600 hz, but otherwise I don't know much about it.

Only other watches I know of that uses it are also microbrands.. I think some Aragon watches as well as the Draken Kalahari. They use the same disc for the power reserve, but I prefer the Mercer's aesthetics, and it's significantly cheaper too.

Campaign follow up.

This one was interesting, so Mercer cancelled the campaign project last week.

Here's the update before they pulled the plug:

"While we have not taken off like we'd hoped I wanted to let backers know that as we've stated, production has continued and is almost complete. Watches will still be delivered as planned in early April.

It's likely this Kickstarter campaign will not succeed, therefore your pledges will be cancelled. However if you are still interested in acquiring a Sabre, you can place your preorder for the Sabre directly at www.mercerwatch.com - for the same price, with the same delivery window.

Huh, pretty neat! I like the power reserve and applied indices.

Otherwise, the numbering reminds me of the Rolex Air King.

To my eye, the seconds hand presents scissors, not the intended crossed sabres.

Ain't wearin' that watch while joggin', nope.
