SUCCESSFUL: Kickstarter: Tsao Baltimore - Torsk Diver
This Kickstarter launched earlier today and people have been jumping on this one!
Already fully funded and all the bronze super early bird slots have been taken, most of the steel super early bird slots are also gone.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ts ... orsk-diver
However, you can still get a steel case super early bird price for $350 (regular price will be $650) with 18 slots available
or there are still 35 slots for the bronze early bird price of $375 (bronze will also retail for $650)
The Torsk diver is a limited edition release of 846 pieces in either a brushed 316L stainless steel case (423 pieces) or a marine grade CuSn8 bronze case (423 pieces), each timepiece will be individually numbered as No. xxx / 423 (to pay homage to the SS-423 submarine, also known as the USS-Torsk).
Tsao has a site for this model at - https://www.torskdiver.com/

Re: Preorder: Kickstarter: Tsao Baltimore - Torsk Diver
This is really tempting me. It's also cool the case is actually a watch winder, too.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

This looks like a great watch at a great price offered by a company with passion (for watches, history and naval vessels) and proven ability to deliver quality and customer service. This appears to be a diamond in the rough.

I managed to get one of the super early bird spots for the bronze. I was amazed at how quickly the number of backers was increasing. Hopefully they look as good in person. Now the hard part. The waiting!

Case looks similar to the Zelos. These micro brands are learning.......
Brand + story selling + packaging + innovative design + relative value = sell all you can make.

Really loving the look of this watch and have been going back and forth on if I want to jump in on it or not. I would love the steel on steel.

Re: Preorder: Kickstarter: Tsao Baltimore - Torsk Diver
Tsao Baltimore are now releasing a limited edition carbon coated model.
Only 100 to be made.
Pricing is to be around $450.
As tempting as these are, I think I'll stick with the bronze version.

No surprise this campaign did well.
448 backers pledged $200,155 to help bring this project to life.
You can still preorder the watch at the Tsao Baltimore site for $450 or $200 off

Finally got a shipping label for my Torsk bronze. Can't wait to see the final product.
Re: SUCCESSFUL: Kickstarter: Tsao Baltimore - Torsk Diver
I live just south of Baltimore so I was able to pick mine up at the pick up event. My wife and I also got to spend the day touring the historic ships, including the Torsk.

Looks great on wrist, what are your impressions so far? Mine come today sometime and i can't wait.
Re: SUCCESSFUL: Kickstarter: Tsao Baltimore - Torsk Diver
It looks great on the wrist, and the Miyota movement is very accurate. Since August 3rd, it's averaging +1.8 sec/day. The blue dial with the white chapter ring wears a bit smaller than the 43mm size would indicate. The lug to lug also seems very modest for a watch this size. I'd say it wears a little smaller than my CW Trident bronze, which has the same diameter.
The screw down crown isn't very smooth, and neither is the bezel. Those are my biggest knocks, although I'll add that the overall fit and finish is clearly that of a microbrand and not nearly as polished as a more mature micro like CW. But that's part of why we support these campaigns... To help companies like this learn and grow.
The straps are nice and long. I often can't wear OEM straps because I'm on the last hole, but there's plenty of room with this one. The buckles on the leather straps are really big and tend to get caught on things. The 2 piece fabric strap has a more comfortable buckle.
I really do think the dial overall is really well executed. Very nice to look at, which I find myself doing quite a bit.
I should add that the watch winder that comes with it is pretty decent. A very nice touch. I don't keep my watches on winders all the time, but I like to use them to wind a watch from the night before I'll wear it, rather than hand wind the movement in the morning.

Re: SUCCESSFUL: Kickstarter: Tsao Baltimore - Torsk Diver
I was away and left it running in the supplied watch winder at the lowest TPD setting. I've left it in there ever since to track the time drift. Rock solid Miyota movement, it's running at +2.3 spd since I picked it up.
