1-3 weeks!?!? That doesn't seem consistent with the stereotype of Asians being insanely workaholic.

Do they work like maniacs all year and finally take off for this primary holiday? I'm admittedly an idiot on Chinese culture in general.

Increased China to US shipping costs could be coming soon. Another step was taken this month.

The other way to look at this is that you might actually WANT TO WAIT; seeing as that many China based sites announce varying CNY discounts while they're closed for the holiday.

Yup. China disappears in the month of February

I just placed my order for a blue Sharkey CW Trident homage. I was on the fence about ordering but I remembered that my large collection doesn't have a blue watch or one with a wave dial and that's all the excuse I needed

I did the same thing this afternoon for a Sharkey Tuna in yellow. In before the Chinese New Year lock out! That code NEWS15 plus some eBay bucks brought down to under $150.

Edit. Just noticed the code posted above. Is the $15 coupon the best available?

Guys, why do you spend more $$$ buying sharkey's off ebay and Ali and not directly from TaoBao through an agent?

The Yellow Tuna Sharkey comes @ $127 + $10 shipping:

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1 ... 255989651

The Trident Sharkey comes @ $107 + 10 shipping:

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1 ... 5627440003

Use an agent like SuperBuy to purchase things from TaoBao. They don't charge any commission. The shipping prices mentioned above are from SuperBuy using simple (trackable) China Post.

You can pay the agent with Paypal and therefore enjoy the protection that Paypal offers.

I did it because I couldn't find them on Taobao. If you had posted your link yesterday you would have saved $27

I've been posting on "the site that shall not be named" in the past about TaoBao but have been largely ignored since people prefer the perceived "safety" of ebay even though (through an agent) TaoBao seems safer to me. The agent will take photos of your item once it arrives in their warehouse. You can also ask extra services like: Detailed Photos, repackaging, packages consolidation (if you have more than 1 incoming) etc. Also (for us poor souls having to pay Customs) you can declare the package for whatever the heck you want. I'm telling you folks, TaoBao rocks!

The Taobao links ... sorry, I don't speak the language. Is there a How To for how to buy something from them, that's worth the $27 saved?

Asking for a friend, thanks!

Google Translate is your friend in Chrome.

And for the many photos that have descriptions on them, Google translate via Camera on your Smartphone is the way to go.

You can use an agent to buy from TaoBao (something like a Middle Man): http://superbuy.com/

It takes some getting used to but those $27's sure add up for watchacholics.

There is also a thread about TaoBao over at WUS:
