As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.
I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.
Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
Does anyone have the EMG Horizon? I really like the square case and the turquoise dial. My B-day is coming up and my lovely wife wanted some ideas, so I was thinking on this. It's Meca-quartz and not something I've ever had. Would love anyone's thoughts. Cheers.

Re: Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
I do not have the EMG, but my Dreydon is Mecha-quartz. I can vouch for the movement...it’s actually very well implemented and the mechanical chrono function is solid.
Re: Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
Thanks for the feedback watchpalooza. I'm definitely intrigued by the Meca-quartz, but think the price is a little steep. What did you get your Dreydon for? Does it have the Seiko VK-64?

Re: Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
The Dryden has the VK-63. It was $279.
Re: Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
I have a Meca quartz as well but not EMG. Although I've only heard great things about the company and their automatic watches.
I have the Straton Curve Chrono (for sale) that houses the Seiko VK64. It's a really cool watch and overall seems like a beast of a movement.
I got this in a trade but brand new on their site for $499. It's a beast of a watch made REALLY well. Just didn't love it as much as I thought I would.
That particular EMG has always caught my eye

Picked mine up gently used for $250. It’s a quality piece and it adds some nice variety to the collection.

Thanks, Bbrou33 that price makes me feel better about the EMG. I just really like the look and it would be something totally different than what I currently have. I have the DL63 and the guys at EMG are pretty awesome. I had an issue with the Chrono plunger and they took care of it quick.
mrb12186 what color do you have? I've had a hard time finding a used one.

I have the petrol blue/orange model. I actually wore it today so I tried posting some pics but Tapatalk doesn’t seem to be cooperating tonight.Stretch44 wrote:Thanks, Bbrou33 that price makes me feel better about the EMG. I don’t see any on eBay at the moment but I have an EMG alert on watch recon since I’m keeping an eye out for a sapphire dl63. There’s a turquoise horizon model posted there now via WUS. They’re asking $345, which at that price I’d rather buy new, but it’s been up for a while so I’m sure you could talk them down to something more reasonable.

I saw the one on WUS and thought the same. He wasn't willing to budge at all. Thanks, glad to hear you like it, I may order one.mrb12186 wrote:I have the petrol blue/orange model. Re: Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
I'll add to the positive things said about the VK movements.
I had a VK63 in a Fossil in the past. Wonderful watch and I don't understand why Fossil refuses to use true chronographs (center-seconds chrono hand) in any of their current lines.
I currently have a VK64 in a Benyar (Chinese brand) watch. Rock-solid movement, and I love the mechanical feel to the pushers, which makes sense when you understand the construction of the movement.
Picked it up pre-owned on Amazon in April of 2018 for $20. These are also sold as Pagani Design.

Re: Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
Not a complaint but I wish the seconds hand ticked in watch mode as it does in chronograph mode.

Re: Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
Thanks for all the input guys. I decided to go ahead and order it as an early B-day present. I've never owned a square watch.
Re: Meca-quartz - EMG Horizon
Late to the party, but my Nezumi has a VK63 -- it's great. It think you will be happy with the EMG. I have always been intrigued by square cases.
I wish that watch were 38mm?
