There is a lot to like about that Seiko Conchita Turtle. Thanks for the history lesson as well. I have seen King Seikos but did not know the story.

Looks like a new design. Made me think of finally getting California dial watch.

Same here. This I think is the best looking Cali dial watch I've ever seen -- club campus included.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

Also, maybe follow the BSH thread over on WUS around January. Might solve the logo issues[emoji6]. Keep your eyes open for the "sea ghost".

And this is not meant to steal thunder from the great MoT community. I think most here would know that is NOT my intention, but if there is any issue, just lemme know mods.

If anything, it makes me want to move forward with the LWDS/MoT watch!

What would it take for BSH to have a "clubhouse" (thread(s)) here?
Working on it [emoji6]

Got served up a YouTube video from Marc at Long Island Watch where he's introducing a new Islander "dress" watch.

It's just ALMOST there. For $200, can't really complain.
But feels so close, yet so far as far as design.
At least he's expanding the Islander horizons.
Do dig the teak dial. Points for that.

The ISL-32 in white and the ISL-33 in blue.
White - https://www.longislandwatch.com/Islande ... isl-32.htm
Blue - https://www.longislandwatch.com/Islande ... isl-33.htm

Available now for $195

Watch Features:
- Movement: NH36 Automatic (self-winding, hand wind, hacks)
- Case: Stainless steel, 39mm x 12mm thick. 45mm tip to tip
- Back: Exhibition-Window screw-in back
- Crystal: Anti-reflective sapphire
- Band: Brown Leather strap with dual push-button deployant clasp. 20mm
- Water Resistant: 100 meters
- Warranty: 1 Year

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like his icon on a watch. Why do I want a fake dial printed on a dial? LIW would be much better.

I don't mind the logo.
But agree there's not a strong association between it and the name Long Island Watch.
Maybe the logo with LIW or ISLANDER beneath it?

The phrase "it's off by half" seems appropriate here. For me, the bezel is way too wide for a dress watch. The blued hands are too loud, but that may change in different lighting. Solid effort though, and it's nice to see the Islander line branching out.

If, like me, any of you missed the Kickstarter for the Reise Resolute, they've just released a couple of new colours on their site and also seem to have some of the grey and olive green in stock.

USD 329 for Jan 2021 delivery.

Very tempted by these but am gutted I missed out on the original teal version....

With days to go before the Petrodvorest factory celebrates its third centenary, something for which Swiss manufacturers will still have to wait a handful of years, Raketa presents a new watch, the K-328 Leopard, which is the name of a Russian submarine of the Akula class.

Image

The watch would be this...

Image

In the advertising photo he appears surrounded by water. It's a 20ATM, so like the submarine there's no danger of drowning. It's also a 24 hour, which in the submarines, as in the polar areas, one doesn't see the sun to know if it's morning, afternoon or night. A curiosity of the beautiful sphere with sandwich type numerals is that it has some lines almost in the bezel of red and gray colors, that mark 4 hours, and that are what lasts each shift of work in the submarine.

Image

And if in this forum the Werenbach watch has become famous with the dial made from parts of the deck of a Soyuz, this time the bezel is made of metal from the submarine hull, which was launched in 1992, but has recently been completely modernized to remain active.

Image

Image

The manufacturer says that the watch has been co-designed with the first captain of the "Leopard", named Valery Dyakonov, and would have been inspired by the hands of some of the instruments on the control panel; although it would not leave the design keys of the current Raketa, the constructivist typography and the red cabochon on the crown.

Image

Image

The back is seen, typical of the firm to see the 2416A 24h caliber manufacture, and of course, with constructivist typography. We see both in bridges and in the rotor some "cótes" made manually, which the manufacturer calls "Onega stripes". Curiously (and it seems original to me), the screws, instead of being blue, are red, matching the decoration of the watch.

Image

Image

The watch would come in a case with an insignia and an additional strap. And this is where I see the big con, because I really like it... its price is 1550 euros. Personally I think it is the most beautiful watch that the firm has made.

The handset is the cherry on top of a great design. Out of my price range, but such a cool watch with all the right design cues.
