Post a pic/photo of a great-looking vintage watch

Post by yinzburgher »

Not much more to it folks. I like looking at photos of vintage watches. And sometimes I come across a picture of one and it doesn't fit into any other thread or post but I just want to share it because I think it's cool. It doesn't have to be your pic or your watch. It can be from an article, a blog, a sales listing, Instagram, whatever. If you know something about the watch or want to say where you found the pic or to drop a link, by all means include it. Otherwise just a pic will suffice. I'll let you define vintage and great-looking.

I came across this picture of a Citizen Dandy Seven dive watch a couple months ago on google images and I haven't been able to close the browser tab for fear I will forget about the watch or it will get mixed and jumbled up with all the other watches in my head and I'll never be able to find it or recall it again. :? I usually go back to look at it about a couple times a week since then. At least now I know I can close the browser tab because I can come back to this thread to look at it. I haven't actually hunted for these yet but I imagine it's inevitable. It's absolutely fine if you don't love this watch but I think it's beautiful and fantastic. I found it on Google images, but it's originally from the link below.

Nothing to contribute yet, but oh man. Now I really want one of those! That whole watch is fantastic, but that day date setup puts it over the edge. Just another watch I didn't know I needed. Thanks Yinz. . .

I was going to say the same thing about the day date. It gives a tad more symmetry than a traditional layout at 3. Very unique there and I like it aside from the truncated tachymeter scale with a running seconds hand. Other than that, there is a lot to like.

Great idea for a thread by the way. I will post one in a bit once I get to WIFI.

I found this on an eBay listing and I am cross posting this from the Wolbrook Kickstarter thread. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 3746864616
This makes me want to try to mod a watch with a coil thermometer shoehorned onto the dial.

Ok the previous two watches are REALLY cool. But HOLY **** this Fortis is incredible! I think I've finally found a vintage watch that I really want.
Mind sharing some information on it? I know there are a ton of franken Fortis out there on the bay

I have a feeling that this is going to be an epic thread in the history of the MoT Watch Deal Forum. Today is a good day.

Watchpalooza, is that one of your treasures?

I know the thermometer coil is the main feature but it's just a funky and great looking watch overall with the toothpaste lume and especially that white bezel.

Your guess is as good as mine. In all my searching, I have found nothing about who may have manufactured this.

It contains a Lorsa 238, and is quite nice overall.

😍 Wow! Beautiful watch......never heard of Ringo either. I guess a lot of those vintage brands were something like yesteryear's version of the obscure microbrands of the present.

This brand was originally called Pete, but that name was replaced before it took off.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

I agree that it just works insanely well as a package. The thermometer feels as if it could be gone and it might even look better.
The outer indices remind me of the keys of a keyboard if the colors of the keys were inverted.

I agree! I also have a feeling that this thread is going to cost me (and others) some money. There is an entire world of timepieces out there that I want to explore and the few examples thus far in here have been fantastic! This is an area where I will not have much to contribute, but am so thankful for those who do.
