Can't even joke about this one being a Bulova. I've lusted after this watch for years. I have a long list of watches that I will one day own and this one recently hit the top again after watching - Once upon a time in Hollywood. Brad Pitt was wearing a Citizen Bullhead in that movie. His was a gold case and dial on leather strap, not my favorite combo. But of course I couldn't stop looking at the watch and thinking about finding one. Quite a few eBay auctions later, where I thought I'd won, but in the final seconds the bids shoot through the stratosphere. I'm talking $500 - $600 and up. I didn't give up, but I also knew it wouldn't be easy.

Tonight I finally find one in very good condition and priced around $325 after a few rebates.

Hemel chronograph. Not the $995 auto version but a very new VK64/mechaquartz $177 bargain.

Great catch. I've been hunting for one of those on and off for a while now, and it's very hard to find one at a good price and in great condition.

Just snagged another Citizen bullhead for under $300. This one is clearly a re-dial. I'm good with that.

After considering a couple of other higher end watches, finally decided to go with the Moon watch. This one's going to fun to try with different straps. This one is on a Ritche silicone strap.Image

I had my eye on a Breitling Superocean Heritage for a long time, and just before this watch came up on my radar (pre-owned on WUS) I nearly pulled the trigger on a pre-owned Heuer Autavia 02. I really like both of those watches, but when the Speedy came up I just had to pull the trigger.

Thanks! I've had mine on the silicone and also on a couple of different shades of brown leather strap and it looks great on all of them.

I haven't yet worn it on the bracelet because I need to put back in the two links that were removed by the previous owner but I can't get the links unscrewed. I've been doing research on that and I've picked up the right screwdriver, a torch and some loctite, I just need to give it a try.

Thanks! You'll get there and you'll be glad when you do. To me, it's the ultimate tool watch.

There are lots of chronographs, diver watches, aviation watches, GMT watches, etc. but they're all interchangeable. Yeah, people will argue that a Rolex GMT Master II or a Submariner are the definitive watches of those types, but the reality is that you can buy other watches to do the exact same thing. But the Speedy is the only watch flight qualified by NASA for EVA, which means that it's the only watch an astronaut can wear if they exit a spacecraft in flight. No other watch, to my knowledge (expert maybe the Fortis for Cosmonauts), is the required tool for a job.
