Enjoy it!

Huge thanks to MoT for my first Casio. Looks great on the wrist and I’m excited to dive into all the features. Image

I didn't realize these new Oceanus divers were using basically the same module (5624) as the new analog Frogman watches 9(5623)

Pretty nifty module. Big watches and all titanium. They look great. There's some more info at this link from G-Central.

I went down the rabbit hole looking for a G, but nothing grabbed my attention for too long. I looked back again at Pro Treks and found this gem instead:
Image
PRW 2500:
- 200M WR
- triple sensor
- duplex lcd for compass display
- solar
- atomic
- moon and tide
- full auto illumination
- all the alarms, stopwatches, countdown timers and world time display you can think of
- comes in titanium if you'd like
- under $250

Seriously, no G Shock does it all.

edit, further thoughts:
This is probably nothing new for seasoned digital fans, but I own only one, a PRG 300, and was looking at Gs trying to justify buying one. I don't find them aesthetically pleasing that much (at least not in the same way as my mechanical analogs), so I was looking from a more functional, pure tool point of view, but most models either lack things I'd like to have, come into crazy price category or are just ugly as sin. My humble ProTrek does pretty much anything I could want from a digital, therefore I'm having a hard time choosing a G-Shock just to double the features. The "cool factor" is really really strong though and I will probably succumb, sooner or later [emoji28]

My new G-Lide GBX100-7 from Reed's was delivered today.

Initial impression: The MIPS display is way more legible than standard Casio reverse LCD.

Quite a lot of options and settings to tinker with in the companion app. I'm going to have to play with them for a while.

I think the only thing that would make this better is Tough Solar.

Congratulations -- that is very cool. And thanks for the mini-review. The MIPS display looks like a disruptive technology for big-dollar digitals.

Great to see newer tech in enthusiast watches at a reasonable price. There's too much rehashing of old tech to a captive audience.

The Nixon Regulus that I've been watching also has an improved negative display lcd, don't know if its MIPS though.

Looks fantastic, Matt. Would you mind sharing the dimensions compared to your 5610? Interested to know if they are similar in size.

The 5610 bezel is roughly 43mm x 51mm and the GBX100 bezel is roughly 45mmx53mm, so a smidge larger. The strap on the GBX is also longer. Thickness is about the same.

At the end, there's a comparison of the display vs the negative on the metal squares. Looks better. Also, interface seems slow at times?

Definitely still interested in getting one of these eventually.

The only sluggishness I've encountered is when deleting stopwatch events, other than that it's been rock solid.

That's where I thought it was sluggish in the video. Good that that's the main spot.
