As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

I thought it might be worth a look to see what Patek Philippe is putting out into the watch world lately. This past Baselworld, they surprised many with the release of a new variation of the Calatrava, their dress watch which has traditionally been made with precious metal. This Calatrava Weekly Calendar reference 5212A will come in stainless steel and is a non-limited production. The watch features the day, date, and week of the year, a calendar complication most commonly associated with the European business environment.

+1 for a positive experience with Zelos. Mine was also not a pre-order, but came after the campaign. You will get what you order, and the watches are IMO some of the best of the available microbrands. Elshan sweats the details and it shows. Highly recommended.

This might have been called out already post Baselworld. But am eagerly seeing more detailed reviews of this watch (Oris Aquis GMT Date).

Re: zelos pre-order. I pre-ordered a bronze Mako. It arrived before I expected it. Great experience.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

I’m with you in this on. Everyone seems to love the Aquis and I would really like a GMT. So many watches...so little time (and money!).

That patek seems “affordable” for something with PP on its dial

But the dial kinda reminds me of JLC memovox, seems flat...

I know some people are put off by the "handwriting" on the dial but overall I think this watch looks great. I know most of us here aren't in the market for Pateks but I just wanted to read about it and look at pics so I figured I might as well post about it here. Also I just think its noteworthy just because its a bit of a departure for them.

On the opposite side of the cost spectrum as Patek, there's a new Scurfa. It's yellow!

At some point I should probably get a yellow dial diver. This one looks good. Unfortunately my history is that I sometimes try buying cool-looking quartz watches but then I never wear them.

Halios is making yet another run of Seaforths, this time in bronze. He has mentioned on Instagram that he has plans for blue, green, and grey dials. So far the only pic up on his page is a blue dial, which looks great to me. Due to crazy demand for previous versions of the Seaforth, availability will be based on a lottery. Sign up for updates at the link below.

In regard to the bronze Halios,

SHIPPING: CANADA: Free; USA: $25; EVERYWHERE ELSE: $65

$65 US is pretty rich IMO. Price gouging?

Attractive piece none the less.

Same. Extremely expensive for worldwide shipping, IMHO.

Well after agonizing for an uncharacteristically (for me) long time, I ordered a Horizon GMT in cobalt blue. This means I will have to sell my Squale 50 Atmos, which is one of the first watches I really lusted for after getting into the hobby. (Coming to a Bazaar post near you). What tipped the balance for me was (1) it should be relatively easy to find another matte blue 1521 if I really want one and the Zelos may be harder to find, and (2) I've never owned a GMT before and this seems like a good price for an ETA GMT. So there's my way-too-long personal story for the week.

The Seaforth is an awesome watch, but for some reason it just didn't turn me on in the flesh. I had a gilt/sapphire and blue sunburst w/ bezel and they were awesome. I just wanted something else. The fit/finish was not really above the price point, but the styling and dimensions were awesome. Very well-designed watches.
