dumberdrummer wrote:ToM is offering 15% off on gift cards today, with NO LIMIT! That’s basically 15% off “cash money” (not their usual store credit nonsense); assuming, that is, you’re willing to put forth the minimal effort to first buy the gift card prior to making your purchase. That would put this classic, flieger style Alpina Startimer, on bracelet, at $352.75 (+ Shipping and tax, if applicable) before any cash back. https://www.touchofmodern.com/sales/24- ... -pre-owned

Considering jumping on this and waiting for a targeted 15 or 20% ToM discount offer. That could be a killer combo.

Good point. There's nothing that says you have to make a purchase with the gift card today, so this can definitely play out well for those who possess that rare virtue of patience (of which, admittedly, I'm not always that one!)!

Has anyone purchased a gift card before? Any timeline on use?
Interesting that you have to buy at the following increments.

I've never purchased a gift card from ToM; however, the offer for 15% does state "No Limit" (so, I suppose this technically means you could potentially purchase an infinite quantity of $5000 cards).
As for whether they expire? This is taken from NCSL.org...
"In 2009, Congress passed the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure (CARD) Act, which set consumer protections for gift cards based on many state laws. The law provides that gift cards cannot expire within five years from the date they were activated and generally limits inactivity fee on gift cards except in certain circumstances, such as if there has been no transaction for at least 12 months. The federal law creates a floor for regulation and leaves room for state regulation on redeeming gift cards for cash and unclaimed property provisions."

Here's your chance on a great deal for a Rolex GMT. GMT prices are insane right now, but not on pre-owned two tone models. ToM has an E serial (1990) GMT Master II model 16713 for $7,499, which is about the low end of current market value. Buy it with gift cards for 15% off, add in 5% CB from Ebates and use an Ebates credit card for another 3% CB (if you don't have this cc, get one!). That would bring the price down to $5,785 with shipping, and ToM allows returns on this item. It's a bit of a gamble though as ToM never gives enough photos on pre-owned watches!

You will have to wait for the card first before you can use it. From the GC purchase page:
Unlike the usual uneventful e-gift cards you get from other online retailers, Touch Of Modern will send you - or the recipient of your choice - a real, hefty black card that you can hold in your hand. The power is yours.
Once received, the card can be redeemed at touchofmodern.com/gifts, and the prepaid amount will be instantly applied to your Touch Of Modern account balance. The card can be used on any items currently for sale on Touch Of Modern, but cannot be applied to shipping, any additional fees or surcharges, or retroactively applied to items that have already been purchased.
So you will need a little patience if you order one.

Unfortunately no Touch of Modern cash back through Rakuten. Not sure about any of the other cash back sites. And they wonder why people get confused. It literally says cash back and no cash back on the same page. I'm glad I'm a Rakuten user overall but they can be a mess.

Maybe it only shows up on desktop, but seeing 5% cashback from Ebates EXCEPT for gift cards, had I read the exclusions above.

Also, there's an Amex Offer with ToM where you get a $25 statement credit back with any transaction over $125

Get a one-time $25 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $125+ in one or more transactions online at touchofmodern.com by 6/11/2019. See terms for exclusions.
