You may have seen elsewhere on this forum that Invicta (yep!) has released a homage to the original 1953 Rolex Submariner. You won't find any articles or reviews of this watch from the main watch publications but I think it's worth posting here for a few reasons. This is an opportunity to pick up a watch that is known to be a popular modding platform and DOES NOT have Invicta engraved on the side of the case unlike many other 40mm automatic Pro Divers. I also think that many will find this to be a very good looking watch without any modifications at all. And I think it's possible that we could see more non-engraved 40mm NH35 divers from Invicta following this release. Also, the price is right. Check out the ShopHQ link for a video that shows the watch in greater detail.

Based on customer feedback, Oris has launched a 41.5mm Aquis as an in-between size to join the 39.5 and 43.5 sizes. So far I only see one model on the Oris site although it is available on both bracelet and rubber strap. The IG posts below show 41.5mm models but I'm sure if it is the same model on the Oris site. The dials appear black to me.

Sternglas has introduced their first Swiss made automatic, the Kanton.

https://www.sternglas.com/products/kanton

Pricing is $879 or €799 depending on currency.

From their email announcement:
- The new Kanton is once again the product of feedback from and close collaboration with the Sternglas community - and this is the result.
- The Swiss STP 1-11 caliber movement with a maximum power reserve of 44 hours makes the Kanton the most high-quality tiempiece by Sternglas.
- The ornate movement of the watch, complete with its deep-etched rotor and blued screws, can be observed as it turns through the sapphire crystal base.
- The Kanton is available with a new quick-change leather strap in brown and black. The special feature is the decorative stitching.
- The 39mm polished, stainless steel exterior sits comfortably on the wrist and under the sleeve at the height of 10mm.
- The luminous hands by Luminova and illuminated spots make it easy to tell the time, even at night.

If I was at Oris, I would just make the one model in this size in a popular colorway to test the waters to see if this size actually sells or not.
Seems exhausting to have three sizes of the same watch, so many SKUs to keep track of.

This looks great. Here's a movement shot since they talked it up:

And, hey, I'll take 39mm

I was surprised Chris Ward did this, too, with the new 3d gen trident. It comes in 38, 40, and 42. I suppose as long as the movement fits in the 38mm it's not that much harder to do?

But it wasn't until 1979, with the release of the Q diver, that they made the switch from mechanical watchmaking to fully embracing quartz technology.

Sigh, Timex and their liberties with history. They were making "fully quartz" watches at least 3 years prior to 1979, LCD ones, even.

But that would be incorrect as well. Timex produced in-house mechanical movements and watches until 1996.
