This is my Grandcat, Ruth. She is my oldest boy's cat but I am her favourite.

Anybody else have a cat that likes to be cradled like a baby? He had plenty of other lounging options. Now I can't bring myself to move.

We have a Maine Coon. She despises being held unless she is the one who initiates.

Mrs.MoT's work station is in our bedroom. I woke up to this sight this morning:

We had a cat for thirteen years that loved to be held like an actual baby. He would crawl up to you and flop over on his back. Oh, and he was somewhere north of fifteen pounds (not fat, just big boned...really!). I am not a cat person and I distinctly remember the shelter people saying, "the #1 rule of holding a cat is that they do not like to be held like babies but everyone wants to try." So we repeated that every time he flopped in our arms  .

Yeah, I miss him. Still not a cat person but I love all animals.

See, you are making my point about cats! A dog, almost any dog...even if it is not yours, is always happy to see you. I love Maine Coons, but that cat is planning your demise and thinking how life is going to improve once you are out of the picture.

It's obvious to Mrs.MoT and I Delia (the cat) loves her way more than me (probably because I'm the one that always stuffs her in her kennel to take her to the vet), so you're not wrong.

I don't know. My other cat had easy access to scissors while I was crawling around on the floor and I'm still here.

Sure, she was clearly thinking about it. But I'm safe until she learns how to pop the tops on the canned food.

If cats had thumbs we would all be goners by now!

Too much attention being given to the tree and the gifts?

I'm amazed you're able to have a tree. I stopped after my now-11-year old cat removed a branch from the artificial tree as a kitten. Warning sign acknowledged.

Your cat still thinks the world would be a brighter place without you...but let's talk about that Star Wars wrapping paper :o.

My son took some dog food to the animal shelter again. The cutest little calico was on the other side of a glass and she wanted to rub her head on my son sooo bad! She was bumping her head into the glass, standing up, pawing...a really animated cat. My son asked about her and the lady said, "She only has one problem...she's a little bitey." "Bitey." I was this close to telling my wife about that cat because it looked like so much fun.

She's a Maine Coon but yet has never once shown interest in being in the tree. Under it, next to it, occasionally biting on a lower branch when she thinks we aren't looking, yes. Until there are gifts under it she'll quite often sit behind it and take turns peaking around it at one of us.
