I finally picked up some good shoes at RunOn! (where I enjoyed excellent fitting CS). I have been able to run about 100m w/o my joints acting up. Next stop 200m. ;-) My dog deserves credit for not only making me walk almost two hours a day, but her high pace makes me want to run. Makes up for the kennels she has destroyed.

Happy Independence Day, y'all!
Awesome job dude!!! Proud of you. That first step is the hardest.

Between travel, being sick, and the hot temperatures my stamina (if you can call it that) has taken a hit. I'm looking forward to getting back into a routine.
@BostonCharlie and @peskydonut - keep it up! I guess I will go for a run tomorrow because you guys are doing it. :)
How is it going pdsf? My dog is making me run 2-3 miles every day, now -- even when I don't want to, lol. She sets the pace. Recently I've started to feel like I am just getting into my stride as we approach home. Someday I'll drop her off and run a little on my own.

Hi BostonCharlie! I am sorry for my delayed response. I have been MIA. Thanks for checking in. I have been terrible on the running front. I was off for about a month or so, as I was consistently swamped, so outside of my usual swimming, I just wanted to relax a bit, but I did go for a run this morning and hoping to make it regular again. I swim with a group of people and that helps a lot with commitment. I want to have a running buddy locally but I haven't found one yet.

I am glad to hear your doggy is making you run haha That feeling of improvement must feel good!

For many it doesn't matter so much about distance and speed...to quote someone over at WUS "Why ruin the purity of running with something so superfluous as metrics?" :)

Nice to end the week with code that compiles, runs, and works as expected. That's a wrap!

I've been doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for about 3 months. Today I got my second stripe. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal, practice is practice, except for the fact that at my school the second stripe allows me to participate in Randori (freestyle sparing). I got my ass kicked six ways to Sunday, but it was awesome! All partners were super helpful and I feel like I learned a ton (mostly about what not to do).

A section of my fence was looking bad: the stain had worn down where the sprinklers hit it, and there were light freckles everywhere like it had been sprayed or splashed with something. So I started looking into what I needed to do. First, clean the fence. It had just rained, so it was already damp. I got my spray hose and big scrubbing broom. I sprayed a section and started scrubbing, and the strangest thing happened. The stain must have been cheap, because it started coming out of the wood and collecting on my broom. Everywhere I scrubbed the bad spots went away -- it was like I was re-staining the fence right then and there. This continued down the whole length of the fence. Usually my DIY projects turn into something much bigger than I expected. Nice for a project to be the opposite for once.

Update to add that plumbing is one thing I've learned not to DIY. I have a great plumber who has worked on my rentals and home for years. If you are in the DFW area and need a plumber, PM me. I have tried others, so I know how hard it is to find a good plumber around here.

Good thing of the day is that today is @ManOnTime's birthday.
This place is a good thing for me and it wouldn't be if it wasn't for Matt.

And my present is not posting this in the main deals thread. ;)

It's true. I have begun another orbit around the burning orange sky disc.

Thank you for the present.
