As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

Reasonably priced 22/18mm vintage/pilot style straps?

Post by flypanam »

Hello!

I've been looking and having quite some trouble finding a strap that fits this kinda weird criteria.

It needs to be 22mm at the lugs, and I like the aggressive taper to 18mm at the clasp. Otherwise, it's gotta look okay on a vintage style flieger watch.

I like the look of this Bell and Ross strap in this light brown/beige/cream color, but also think that darker brown with some light beige stitching/accents would look nice too.

Alas, that strap is $225, and there's no way I'm spending that much lol.

Whenever I search for something similar, I inevitably end up with bell and ross "style" straps from various places, which all tend to have that weird notched shape to fit on the lugs of their "experimental" and "instrument" watches. Like this-

Anyone have any ideas? Thank you :)

Ziczac Leather (https://www.ziczacleather.com), Trinh Le Mai/7Strap (https://www.7strap.com) and Martu (https://www.martuleather.com) would be able to make exactly what you want. Ziczac also has 22/18 available off the shelf.

Both Martu (MOTROCKS) and Ziczac (MOT10) offer discounts to us, and I know Trinh is very accommodating and often offers a discount if asked, as well.

If you want to go the custom/semi-custom handmade route check out this strap on Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1210649252 ... atch-strap

I have one of his straps, a Horweeen Chromexcel leather one I have on a Seiko baby Alpinist. I've seen soft/pliable leather but that strap is ridiculously soft. I presently have this strap on order from him for my new Hamilton Khaki Titanium (38mm/green dial):

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1224584109 ... ther-watch

I asked him to make it 20mm/18mm instead of his typical 20mm/16mm. He quickly replied no problem.

Contact him for exactly what you want, Eleazar is a great guy and responds quickly, he'll make what every mods you prefer. For a custom made strap it's a steal of a price, it's also price competitive with nice quality ready-made straps too. Delivery time is pretty darned quick too, he's located in Seattle.
