As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

SUCCESSFUL : Kickstarter: Second Hour Watches - Mandala Collection

Post by TheJohnP »

Thanks to whoagorgeous for first putting this on my radar.

This should be link to use when campaign goes live:

Second Hour Watches out of Melbourne will be launching their second model, the Mandala on Kickstarter planned for Thu March 18th at 11:30pm (GMT+10).

Launch Times: launching globally at the following local times
- Melbourne, Australia: 11:30pm
- Tokyo, Japan: 9:30pm
- Singapore: 8:30pm
- New Delhi, India: 6:00pm
- Dubai, UAE: 4:30pm
- Athens, Greece: 2:30pm
- Paris, France & Berlin, Germany: 1:30pm
- London, England: 12:30pm
- New York, USA: 8:30am
- Los Angeles, USA: 5:30am

Launch price will be about $420 for the most discounted reward tier, in limited numbers.
Price will then rise slightly in two subsequent brackets.
The full retail will be $560.

They are aiming to begin shipping in August, but earlier if achievable.

The Mandala builds on the Second Hour Watches design language and our love for complex, complimentary geometry. This incredible watch realises a marriage between the psychedelic and sacred and the refined mechanics of the modern industrial age.

The Mandala encapsulates Second Hour’s approach to design, seeking to harmonise the mystical and the mechanical through the use of modern materials and methods, resolving tensions between these opposing forces.

The watch speaks of a sporty, yet dressy elegance and is targeted at the active professional who has a creative side. Someone who still knows how to dream.

There will be six colorways to pick from: deep blue, pale blue, black, grey, salmon and green

I keep eyeing the grey/gilt, but I know there's plenty of time to decide on color until the campaign ends.

The stretch goal for date option dials has been unlocked!

But why anyone would purposely chose a date, I'll never know...

Message from Peter at Second Hour:

Hey all

We did it again. A massive thrill to see the Mandala get funded so quickly (just 7 minutes) - more than four times faster than last year's Gin Clear Diver. We not only passed our funding goal, but very shortly after unlocked our stretch target of date dials. That means everyone will have a date dial option when we send out the survey at the conclusion of the campaign. It's your choice: date or no date!

So, once the campaign is done and payments are collected expect to see a survey from us that asks for your dial colour and configuration preferences.

And, if you added on one or more of those beautiful leather straps we'll ask you which colours you would like.

OK, it's very late here in Melbourne. Thanks again to all of you, we need to now go and sleep a little.

See you in the morning.

Best regards

Peter, Akira and family

I'm torn on the date....a no-date diver or dress watch I have no problems with but as an everyday watch, I feel the date may be needed?

He’s already mentioned that the date wheel will be white, which will ruin the look of the dial IMO. There’s a push to have a white/silver/cream dial as a stretch goal which wouldn’t be as bad. I’m getting a salmon dial, so no date for me.

I would normally agree 100% but on this watch, because there is a white chapter ring? around the dial and with the way the date is integrated at 6pm, the date version is actually decent looking.....but I think I'm still leaning toward no-date though
And don't even start me on the "both" ....the grey gilt and salmon are both sweet looking
