As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.
I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

I've got a few ideas. Thinking of getting a blue or black stingray leather strap. I'll make a separate thread when I decidebaldrick wrote:I'd be interested to see what you find. The Watchgooroo has a major load of Eterna on ebay. Lots of Heritage series! Neat stuff, but there looks like a lot of quantity, and I expect the prices will go a bit lower from here-- quantities of 10++ on a lot of nice pieces, but not pieces where I think there's going to be huge volume. Eterna just doesn't get any respect!! Especially non Kontiki. She has deals on Kontiki's too, one's already sold thru.

dumberdrummer wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 11:56 amWhile I have absolutely nothing factual to back this up, I'm beginning to think that the remaining inventory from the old, bankrupt SWI brands (including the "original" The Watchery and World of Watches) has finally been released and that Watchgooroo has picked up most, if not all, of said released inventory. This Eterna Airforce hasn't been available since the TW/WoW days and now all of a sudden The Gooroo has 10 of 'em? You do the math, lol! BTW, it's a great watch and at 39mm, thrown on a NATA, makes for the ideal field watch. I was fortunate enough to pick mine up, back in the day, from either TW or WoW (can't recall now), but for right around $200 and change after all their discount codes and cash back. Still a worthwhile piece I wouldn't hesitate buying, even at $450.yinzburgher wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 10:13 am Eterna Airforce 39mm Automatic (ETA 2895) Watch 11841741400178 - $450 from watchgooroo on ebay
A very high quality movement at this price. You won't find this watch for sale very many places as its an older offering but for price comparison you can check out some roughly equivalent brands with ETA 2892 movements.

Nice looking watch.....that was a steal. And as far as your suggestion, very possible. I was also recently speculating that watchgooroo may have recently picked up some of Ashford's stock. I don't know what happened to WoW's or the Watchery's inventory but I do know that the sites and domain names have been picked up by Jomashop, who now has a bunch of different sites. So I decided to make a short list of watch retailers that have multiple names/websites. I could use some help with it if some fellow MOTers could look it over and tell me what I'm missing. Thanks much.

I have a lot of love for Eterna, thanks for the heads up as to watchgooroo and their listings on eBay...just want to share what I think is a real standout, and not affordable for me, but WOW, this watch has a lot going on., chronometer, moonphase, pointer date, etc....the only other that I can find IN STOCK is over 3000$, although there is an out of stock listing at ernestjones.co.uk for 1190 pounds, so that would be lower overall, not sure if that like a Joma OOS listing or not...anyway here she is the Heritage 1948 chronograph, look at those lugs.. . (drool) seems like a deal to me...

Also July 3rd at eBay is eBay bucks day. Hopefully a sale will soon follow!

Everybody's getting on the Eterna bandwagon.
How about this beauty, which is $100 cheaper on Ebay (Gooroo) than elsewhere?

Side rant: I REALLY miss the eBay 15% and 20% coupon days. It was like a gift from the heavens. But I guess they would've spent a ton of money on those promotions

Breitling Navitimer 8 Chronograph Chronometer in 18K Rose Gold for $9875 after promo code EXBT5000 and 1% cash back from BeFrugal($100). Retail $21,030. Most ebay prices are closer to $13k-$16k.

There are a LOT of watches out there with this same movement. I've bought some for well under $1000. $1750 is getting very close to the Longines version, which would be my choice.testing123 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 5:34 pm I have a lot of love for Eterna, thanks for the heads up as to watchgooroo and their listings on eBay...just want to share what I think is a real standout, and not affordable for me, but WOW, this watch has a lot going on., chronometer, moonphase, pointer date, etc....the only other that I can find IN STOCK is over 3000$, although there is an out of stock listing at ernestjones.co.uk for 1190 pounds, so that would be lower overall, not sure if that like a Joma OOS listing or not...anyway here she is the Heritage 1948 chronograph, look at those lugs.. . Re: Heads Up! I Saw A Bargain Here! 2019
As mentioned before the problem with Eterna is the lack of respect the brand gets which results in poor resale value. From experience a mint condition resale will net you 40% of retail prices.....IF you find another freak admirer of Eterna. I personally find the brand as appealing as Seiko from a design standpoint. But being risk averse I haven't found too many deals worth the risk of the loss on flip. If I can find one at a 75% discount then maybe it's worth the risk. I also contacted Eterna about the cost of servicing their in-house movements.....599 CHF for service costs + Shipping. Not out of the ordinary for in-house but hard to swallow for what the street value of these watches are coming down to.

There are probably a few different names for it depending on which brand has "modified" it, but its basically a ETA or Valjoux 7751.
