Hey guys - don’t know if this issue is common knowledge or if it happened to you before, but I was looking at my credit card statement and noticed a “cash advance” entry, a $10 transaction fee, and applied interest for said “cash advance”.
I called my cc company and asked about this since I don’t use that card, or any cc for that matter, for cash advances. The CS rep said that it was tied to a purchase on AliExpress using PayPal. Apparently the seller can identity the transaction as anything they want, including a “cash advance” instead of oh, I don’t know, rubber watch straps.
The seller hasn’t responded to my messages but my cc thankfully will credit me the interest and transaction fee. So if you’ve made purchases on AE using PayPal or some other cc, check your statements.

Re: AliExpress “transaction fee”
Thanks for the heads up.
I just checked my statements and fortunately, I don't see anything like that.

Never had that, either; sorry that you're dealing with 1 slimy seller out of mainly legitimate ones.

Re: AliExpress “transaction fee”
Something doesn't compute there. I've been buying from AliX for a very long time and have never seen anything like this. They are the one's who actually handle the transaction charge for the merchant, not the merchant directly as far as I know and they do not extend a cash advance option to the buyer, unless something changed.
I would contact AliX to hear their side of the story. They have been very responsive with any issue, a fair amount, that I ever had.

My cc company said it was the seller but that’s just them. I googled this issue and apparently it’s not that uncommon.PetWatch wrote:Something doesn't compute there. Re: AliExpress “transaction fee”
Interesting, seems to be a recent issue that occurs when payment is made through PP. I usually pay directly with CC. I know many prefer to use PP but I prefer to have a minimum amount of parties involved in any transaction to reduce complications when an issue arises.cairoanan wrote:My cc company said it was the seller but that’s just them. Re: AliExpress “transaction fee”
I would absolutely NEVER buy ANYTHING off of AliExpress using a credit card or PayPal.........except for the $2,000 worth of transactions where I did. No issues ever with Ali or DHGate. Any disputes have been resolved in my favor.
