I backed the Kickstarter for the Jour et Nuit (Day and Night) watch by Antoine Tavan 1805 back in October.
The campaign successfully ended in December.
The watch was originally supposed to ship in March.
World went to Hell.
So here we are towards the end of August and Roger sent me tracking yesterday that he dropped off my watch at a FedEx office in Le Locle Switzerland.
It arrived this morning.

Worth the wait.

Here's the unboxing.

During the end of campaign survey, I had to enter in a phrase for custom engraving even though I didn't pay for that tier upgrade.
Figured it was easier to include that question for the survey and he'd ignore that section during production, then I flipped the watch over.

Bonus.

With a traditional kiln fired enamel dial, laser cut and hand polished hands, a modified ETA 2824 to run in a 24 hour cycle, all done in house and by one watchmaker, Roger Zarzoso, this is as close to haute horology that I've gotten or will likely acquire.
Very pleased.

I am just blown away by this. Couldn't wait to hear more after I saw the pictures. The Carl Sagan quote is perfect. I can't tell how the engraving was done, but whatever it is, it looks fantastic!

Congrats and I know that you will enjoy this for a long time.

Wearing this all day and taking some time to get used to reading the time.

First, the hour hand runs on a 24 hour cycle vs 12 hours.
So reading in 24 hour time by itself isn't easy.
Then during day (jour) hours, 6 - 18, you read the top arc and follow the sun.
During the night (nuit) hours, 18 - 6, you read the smaller arc and follow the moon.
Or you can follow both when it hits 6pm or 6am!

Amazing! Pretty glad I missed this kickstarter or the wallet would have been lightened for certain.
