As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

I've been away from the forum for the last few months as I have been focused on buying and selling a house. Everything went well and now I can get back to obsessing over watches.

Thanks to @TheJohnP for posting this deal from Werenbach Watches. It absolutely scratches the itch I had for a unique dial.

I didn't see many reviews on this watch but given the low sale price and the solid reviews on their other higher price offerings I pulled the trigger.

In the flesh, the watch really feels higher quality than the $170ish sale price (normally just north of $300). The case is one solid piece of milled metal with a sapphire crystal fitted to it. This give the watch some heft and a solid feel to it.

It is quartz but does not have any audible "tick" to it, even when holding it right to my ear.

The dial and hand set are well done in my opinion with just a hint of orange to it.

The included black double pass nato is fine, but I knew that I wanted to try this on an orange strap so I ordered a Barton elite silicone at the same time. To me the orange band really pops and takes the overall look to another level.

Again, this won't be everyone's cup of tea but it gave me exactly what I was looking for and provides some fun to my otherwise boring 13 watch collection.

Also, it has a real piece of a rocket used to transport astronauts to the ISS built into the dial (silver patch just above 6:00). Kind of cool having something that made it to space on my wrist.

Yeah, I agree. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it. Looks much better in person than pn their website or even in real life pictures.

Recent eBay find (< $7). 40mm quartz. It has no inherent value, but a certain cool factor. I've never seen one with enclosed lugs like this. The bund-style strap is badly worn on the wrist side...may look for a replacement.

So I replaced the worn bund strap (see above) with a new Fluco Vigo from Holben's (who--incidentally--currently have a 10% off code). 20mm lug-width watch on a 30mm wide strap!

The watch's unusual enclosed lugs curve downward and conform to the overall strap curve. Also I didn't notice until now that the slotted strap screws sort of echo the screwheads (fake) in the bezel. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. ;)

For the Mr. Jones Black Friday sale, I picked up the Robotto Shi for my robot loving wife for Christmas.

And went ahead and picked up Number Cruncher for myself, because who doesn't love kaiju?

This just arrived after taking a tour of DFW. Miyota movement (hand winds, doesn’t hack), slight inner and outer dome on the crystal, impressive presentation box. Much more than I expected! Plan to give it to my nephew someday. Yes that’s my Christmas tree in the background — final day. Drinking espresso and listening to jazz while digging this sweet Timex. Two complaints: no indiglo and too quiet. ;-)

My first Doxa. Great size. And a bit more colour in the collection. Wife approved, another win.

Just have to size the bracelet. Image

That configuration has been tempting me since they where released.

How does it wear? The bubble back gives me concern.

Where you able to get a good deal?

%99 of people do not notice or care whats on your wrist. All that matters is that YOU like what you see.

I won't be able to wear it for a couple of weeks. Argh! I've checked it on the wrist and for me it'll be fine in regards to the raised caseback. It's not dissimilar to ETA 7750. I've got a flat wrist which helps. If you had a round wrist I can potentially see that being something of a issue maybe.

Good choice, that's one of Bulova's cleanest designs in my opinion

The Lima Meca02 arrived today.
The packaging alone is worth the price of admission.
This watch is a lot of fun, thanks for the tip @Miggyd87

Been wanting one of these green models for awhile. Don't think they import the model (BN0158-85X) on the bracelet to the US. Someone posted a deal from Italy, so I bit.
