Over on the private seller deals thread I posted a pre-owned Casioak asking $65 OBO incl. free shipping. Maybe a good platform for modding?

Re: Let's talk G-Shocks, ProTreks, and other Casio's
Got my GWB5600 back from Singapore after paying to ship it back myself. They had promised to fix it or immediately send me a replacement. Apparently that changed to them sending it to Casio, so a delay of a few weeks for that. It's run for a few days now, so hopefully it's actually fixed and I can put this annoyance to bed.
I also ordered the Rubik's Cube GA2100 set from Macy's. After discount and Retailmenot's cash back of 10%, it came out to about $100.
Too many G-shocks.

Wearing this one today, . . . . this watch taught me not to buy any more negative display watches!

And that's why I was so excited to get my GWB-5600 with a positive display.

Re: Let's talk G-Shocks, ProTreks, and other Casio's
I've made a run of putting one of my knock off combies on mine and it did look good. The two I've tried from Ali Express both have holes that are slightly off, requiring me to have to put a bend in the spring bars to get them to lock in. I might try to overdrill the holes in the worst offender and do it again.BostonCharlie wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 1:09 pm Stumbled across this photo of a combi bracelet on a casioak -- very cool.

One thing I have noticed on a couple second-hand GBX-100 that I've seen listed (that have a similarly brushed bezel) is that this bezel is scratched up more than I would expect. Perhaps there is something about the material, finish or design that makes it a scratch magnet? Would be interested to hear others' experience.TimePeace wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 9:42 pm New metal G-shock:

OK, you inspired me to try again. This time it was no problem to get the springbars in. Maybe they were smaller diameter.BostonCharlie wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 1:09 pm Stumbled across this photo of a combi bracelet on a casioak -- very cool.
This again is my rebezeled skeleton watch.

Re: Let's talk G-Shocks, ProTreks, and other Casio's
I tried modifying a two-piece nylon strap to fit my gbd-100 and it was a failure. Then for fun I tried one of those stainless adapters from Ali — I have posted a couple photos of how nicely they fit my crystal square. They fit, but just barely. The resulting L2L is about 63mm. Here are some shots with a single pass CNS nato.

They're here. Solar bluetooth Casioaks. GA-B2100. And look, at least some are positive displays!
With currency exchange, they seem to be around $175.

Now if only they'd bring out solar GBXs...

Re: Let's talk G-Shocks, ProTreks, and other Casio's
Per Hodinki, the GA-B2100's are all $150 USD except the yellow, which is $10 more. Release in June.
I think I may sell my GA-2110 in blue and replace it with this blue. In person I've never really loved the two two blue and gray as much as I thought I would. I'd also suspect I'll end up with the black with positive display, too. Assume I'll find a sale on both at some point. Don't have to pay full price as I'm not in a rush.
I didn't notice originally that these look to have metal dials vs the plastic on the GA-2100's. So like the GM-2100's in a plastic bezel, plus solar and bluetooth.
BTW, I assume since these are bluetooth but not MB6 based on the articles and the images where it doesn't say "Multi-Band 6" on the front or the back of the watch.
