As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

Do you prefer the old logo or dislike both?

I don't really have feelings about the old logo.
But new one, I strongly dislike.

I'm also not a fan, but I have mostly learned to ignore it. I still want an SRPG field watch.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

There's a black and orange model, SRPH33, with a black ion case

I have had the green one for a few months now and it really is a quality piece for the price. It is a nice upgrade to the SNK on all fronts and also uses orange lume accents for extra pop. Dial texture is very well done and the strap is very nice/comfortable. Seiko surprised me with this one for sure.

Full credit for uncovering this one from the Caseback Watches YouTube channel.

Alpina has released a limited edition collection with a new, in-house bumper automatic movement caliber.

The Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture.

Image

Price is €2,850 / $2,850 for steel version or €2,950 / $2,950 for gold-plated version.

Steel (AL-709SR4SH6) is available at the US Alpina site - https://us.alpinawatches.com/collection ... -709sr4sh6
Gold Plated (AL-709SR4SH5) can be found from the Swiss Alpina site - https://alpinawatches.com/collections/s ... -709sr4sh5

Alpina has drawn inspiration from this unusual winding [bumper movement] in developing its sixth Manufacture movement. It beats within the new Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture, a prestigious piece, aimed at fans of Swiss Made watches.

Known as the AL-709, the movement is a contemporary, accurate and robust creation that incorporates the hallmarks of its predecessor, the "bumper". This is because Alpina has designed its key component, the rotor, in the style of that from the Fifties. The oscillating weight from the Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture and that of the vintage "bumper” are related, sharing the same geometry and the same inspiration, but for two details: the vintage version rotates 120°, while the new one rotates 330°. Secondly, the traditionally shaped springs originally used have been replaced by a blade for greater rotation. The AL-709 calibre can also be admired in all its glory through the open case back.

Agree. And honestly less than $3k for watch limited to 188 pieces is a decent value.

Hey everyone, just diving into the 2021 releases conversation, and wow, there's a lot to unpack here! From the Rolex two-tone Explorer to Oris's pastel vibes, it seems like there's something for everyone this year. I'm particularly intrigued by the Rolex Explorer coming back in 36mm - feels like a nod to the classic size, and at a slightly lower MSRP than the previous generation, it's definitely tempting. That said, actually getting one might be the real challenge given how these releases usually go.

And then there's Oris shaking things up with some unexpected color choices. Always refreshing to see brands play around with the palette.

Kudos to everyone sharing insights and updates. It's great to have a community to navigate all these new drops with! What's everyone most excited about, or are there any releases you're hoping to see later this year?
