Moonswatch

Post by Elkins45 »

I can’t believe there isn’t a thread on the Omega x Swatch Moonswatch here. There must be a dozen of them on WUS.

I wanted to start a thread mainly because of the number of value chasers and collectors here so they know that Swatch is going to eventually sell them online. No need to pay the eBay flippers if you’re willing to wait a while. Assuming all of you don’t hate it, of course.

I can see myself getting the Saturn one, and maybe Mercury. Some of the WUS threads are hilarious. My favorite is the guy who accused Swatch of stolen valor :)

It's been heavily discussed over on Discord, but yes, I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread here.

I like them. I can see myself getting at least one, eventually. Earth, Moon, Neptune, Venus, and Uranus are my favorites.

As for the hype rocket and marketing and hoopla around these, I don't like it, but I recognize that it's been brilliant. I can't remember the last time the general public has been this excited over a non-Smartwatch.

As I mentioned on Discord, I am more and more convinced that the "leak" by Revolution was orchestrated by whatever agency Swatch is using for this campaign launch. You hit the media with teasers and a reveal date. Then a "rogue" outlet releases pics and pulls them down the day before before reveal, which sets the hype machine aflame.

Kudos to that team, they are doing a brilliant job.

It is making me rethink my plan to prioritize buying a Damasko. Would be interesting to instead buy a real Omega moonwatch and then a swatch of the same.

I’ve no issue with someone making a few £/$ but https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304414189041 ... BMvMmr7vhf that is a £2000 profit and good luck to them (all)

Ok so I’ve done the maths- return train ticket from Tweedbank to Edinburgh Waverley (£38) plus one for the wife (£38) car parking (£7) lunch at our favourite Thai restaurant in Edinburgh (£100) 1 swatch moon swatch (£205) plus loss of earnings for self employed 2 grownups (£300) so maybe £2000 isn’t a silly markup!!!

All those eBay auctions have to be bots. No sane human would pay that much for a watch they will be able to buy online in a few months.

But the hype is own one now, not in a few months.. I have no doubt some people will pay a lot of money for them..

I like them, but nowhere near enough to jump through any hoops to get one and maybe not even enough to pay MSRP for one.
