Incoming Timex Rugged Field watch with Realtree dial, preowned, grabbed off eBay on a whim. I understand these are hard to find. And not just because of the camo ;)

Ad indicated it doesn't run, hoping it's an easy/inexpensive fix.

Some deets:

NISUS, Péry (founded in 1857) was a well-known watch factory. According to Mikrolisk.de, Nisus was a brand by “Fabrique d'Horlogerie Nisus SA / Dreyfus Freres SA” of Péry, Switzerland. It was founded in 1903 and the brand name 'Nisus' was registered in 1931. Nisus was once a well-known Swiss brand, which produced high-quality watches in Péry (canton of Bern, Switzerland). Nisus was one of the suppliers of watches to the German army in WW2 (e.g. Sterling Times - Military Watches - Nisus). It was a brand that assembled watches with movements made by various Swiss companies such as Arogno (I have one) and A Schild. See also: Nisus S.A. Fabrique D’Horlogerie, Nisus A.G. Uhrenfabrik, and Nisus Watch Factory Ltd.

The company was deleted from the commercial register in 1970, likely a victim of the quartz crisis.

Hello MoT!

First of all, for any who remember.. I am alive!

Image

I've had quite a past year and a half, lots of personal stuff going on. Some good, some not so good. So I kind of fell off the forum and discord. So let me formally say hi by posting a comment buried in this thread!

I've been thinking about this forum quite a bit lately! Even when absent physically, I've always been here spiritually as I'm constantly on the lookout for watch deals.

So allow me to share my latest dumb purchase which is currently in the mail. From Kazakhstan.

Image

Is it a scam? Maybe. Probably, even. But it's backed by eBay's money back guarantee. And I paid with Amex, who I have found to generally be very good about protecting my (their) money. So that's two levels of protection in terms of getting my money back. And if this stunt works, this is an absolute "deal of the century" for me!! And it really got me thinking.. dang I know a group of people who are into watch deals that would probably get a kick out of this.

I'll be sure to report either way!

Also - I'll try to participate from now on, but on a more manageable level. I don't think I can compete any more with some of the heavy hitters here in terms of sheer volume or quality of deals, and sometimes even the discord was hard to keep up with for me (so not sure just how much I'll be jumping back on), but I miss this place! And I will try to not disappear without a trace for the umpteenth time
