Definitely a steal at a Benjamin. Kicking myself for not checking WatchRecon sooner! Been missing mine since I sold it. Enjoy!

I regretted not backing the KS like many of you did, so this makes me happy. There's like an 80% chance that I'll eventually move on from any particular watch I get, so I will keep you in mind if I part with it.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

Picked up this 1939 Helvetia “Beobachtungsuhr” with cal. 51-10…that’s ~42mm

The guy also threw in an Atlanta Geneve chrono, which will need some work.

Is that a Landeron 51? It looks to be in excellent condition as well - good buy!
Do you have tricks to clean up the corrosion near the lug? I had my eyes on a Sicura diver once with similar chrome base corrosion and the seller told me to just leave it as is - I hesitated and it was gone the day after :x

You men the free watch that accompanies the Helvetia…It definitely looks to be a 51. I expect to have to work on the chronograph detente as the chrono pushers reportedly do not function. In the movement photo the detente appears to be stuck. As for the corrosion, I will have to see what I am dealing with after giving the case an ultrasonic bath. In my experience it will likely be a combination of grime and flaking of the plating more than true corrosion. Options for addressing actual corrosion are limited: you can have the case rebeveled, have it laser welded, or for a common movement like the 51 your best bet is to recase. I will clean it up and make a more informed assessment than the photos can offer. Generally for vintage I tend to accept the marks of wear that give these pieces their aged character.

Had to change the battery on a Timex Electronic I have over the weekend, and this led to some research on the ‘Electric’ and ‘Electronic’ series of watches and their movements. The one I have has a ‘Model 52’, and it is just very cool. This led to a scan of ebay, and adding a particularly 70’s looking watch to my “watchlist”. Fast forward to Tuesday, the seller offers a 15% discount. I countered and went to bed, woke this morning to see it on my purchased list. This one is a ‘Model 51’ (no day).

Couldn't resist. Wavered between this and teal, but I have never had a full lume watch before.
