Coffee Talk: a coffee thread
Re: Coffee Talk: a coffee thread
Tried the new espresso machine today and it’s awesome for $97 + shipping!
Re: Coffee Talk: a coffee thread
Thank you, @Miggyd87!! Really appreciate knowing the user experience. Good to know about the sale.

Made a cup this afternoon. Doctored up a bit with some filters.
Bam!

Re: Coffee Talk: a coffee thread
Is espresso machine pump pressure different than the quoted pressure usually seen at the actual pressed coffee? I’m seeing 7-9 bar or whatever, but a lot of machines run up to 19 or more.

Just read a good review for this manual Flair Pro 2.
I prefer the more basic look of their Neo, but the pressure gauge above is pretty fun.

I've considered purchasing one of these lever espresso machines. Cost is very attractive at $150-300, but the thermal management seemed a bit like way to much effort.BostonCharlie wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 1:01 pm Just read a good review for this manual Flair Pro 2.

Having to keep the chamber hot/warm than do all the prep quickly so not to lose to much heat in the chamber...eh.
To much effort for me, but they do look fantastic!
Re: Coffee Talk: a coffee thread
Given that cleaning a milk frother can be a bit of a chore, would you recommend buying it as a separate thing (seems to be cheaper that way) vs getting an expresso machine with a frother function?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Coffee Talk: a coffee thread
Milk frother can do both hot and cold. An espresso machine will have a steam wand, and it takes a bit of technique to produce foamed milk. Also it will only be warm (no cold/room temp). I also agree that a milk frother is a PITA to clean.
Personally, I would use a French press. It works very well considering it's not originally designed for it.

Thanks, @Miggyd87! I did not know using a French press for frothing is a thing!!! I like it.Miggyd87 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 6:17 pmMilk frother can do both hot and cold. I've been interested in things like this, and those concentrated coffee syrups. The cost has been the only thing keeping me away.

Re: Coffee Talk: a coffee thread
The concept is interesting and I wouldn't mind trying it. Ultimately it would all come down to how it tastes, I don't like instant coffee, which is freeze dried, and how often I would want to make one of the non-standard coffee varients.Robotaz wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 9:20 pm Getting past cost considerations, thoughts?

If someone does try them, I'd love to hear their experiences with them.
