I wish instead of the 5610 they'd have made the NASA watch a GWB5600. Still solar. Still MB6, but also has bluetooth for setting all the other settings and allowing for auto timezone adjustment based off the connected phone when traveling.
Agreed.

Pulled the trigger on the positive display sand square, BTW.

Cool, post pics and impressions when you get it. Right now it's in my mind as something I might buy it it's on MLTD and they release a 35% off coupon :) That's how I think I bought my red one.

Here is the watch in question, for anyone interested:

BTW, when looking at gw-5600 models, I found a nice site that shows virtually all the g-shock models:

That's a good find. I've always just gone to https://www.pacparts.com/ , then use the model search by the base model name. It pulls up all the variants.

Example for GWB5600:

Arrived. First impressions are positive.
Pros: Bluetooth and MB6, subtle green screen, backlight is brighter than GW-M5610 (original version), cool ‘sand’ bezel and strap color.
Cons: legibility is ‘just’ edged out by the GE-M5610.
Summary: very good addition to the square solar collection. A keeper.

That looks really nice. And kind of in style with all the OD green and Desert Tan colors being used lately. Seems like half of Adidas' stuff lately is military colors.

The NASA watch is still available. I've resisted because I just bought a Glycine bronze, and feel a bit guilty about buying another watch I don't need. But every day it doesn't sell out I'm more tempted as I see youtube vids and pictures online.

Who wants to take a sub $30 watch and put a $200 case and bracelet on it?

$550-$600!

I know it's in line with their other full metal watches, but come on.

Right, but people buy them.

My hope is that Ali Express will focus more on selling the metal bezels and bracelet that looks like Casio vs the ones trying to make them look more like an AP. After being so happy with my titanium set for my GWB5600, I'd totally pony up similar money for one of these. Once I get one of the bluetooth models, I'll probably order the stainless set. Watch+metal set=$200ish, vs the Casio price. Might even try one of the sapphire upgrades, too.

Another video:

EDIT: Take away from this one for me is they loomed the chapter dial markings finally.

I'm actually thinking about it. $200 gets you both case and bracelet, and a sapphire crystal. If you can take a $30 NH35/36 and drop it in a stainless steel case, I don't see much difference. And if the module in the Royale dies, another $30 and you're back in business.

Tap. Talk. Buy another watch. Repeat.

This one hurts my eyes:

Image
Journey across the G-UNIVERSE — an angular timepiece covered in a cast of old-school G-SHOCK characters.

For the DW-5600GU, the 5600 in white provides a canvas for printed drawings of 18 original characters once engraved on the case backs of past G-SHOCK models.

A bit of nostalgia for fans of previous G-SHOCK generations, in a thrilling new design for lovers of the current G-SHOCK evolution.
