Search terms ignored

So before posting my thread about linking your Rakuten account to your Gmail (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2181), I was searching the forum to see if the topic had already been addressed somewhere. I searched using the advanced search to find all of the following terms: "rakuten" "link" and "email."
When I got results, it shows that the terms "rakuten" and "link" have been ignored, thus giving me search results for any time someone used the term "email," which made the results were virtually useless.
I have run into this before, with less egregious results. For example you can't search for a deal on a Timex Q -- you get all Timex posts. Searching for "Timex Q" with the quotes doesn't seem to have any effect. If you search for "Blue Angels" the forum says it is ignoring (though it's not clear it actually is) the word "blue." If you search for "victorinox night vision chronograph" it ignores the word "chronograph."
Is there a way to tweak the search to make it pick up more results? I get why you wouldn't want to search for a single letter (just the letter "e" for example) not part of a whole word, but maybe there's a way to allow for searches if they are paired with other words, i.e., "Timex Q" rather than just "Q." Other options would be to default the search to be "whole word only" unless the * is used or allow for quotes to search for the specific term.
