Posted: Thu Jun 10, 2021 9:03 am
MAS Watches (aka Matthew And Son), out of Australia, have recently launched their latest model, the Arcticus field watch.
This is their sixth campaign, with one canceled and four successfully funded.
Super Early Bird FIRST HOUR pricing was around $329 SOLD OUT
Early Bird FIRST 48 HOUR pricing is around $349
Kickstarter pricing is around $368
Regular pricing will be about $465
Estimated delivery is November 2021
(MAS drew) inspiration from Australian wildlife, and the beautiful (but harsh) landscapes that have provided the backdrop for some incredible tales of exploration and discovery.
Found in arid areas of the Australian outback, the 'Death Adder' (A. Antarcticus) is a fierce Australian reptile that provided inspiration for the 'Coal Black' and 'Burnt Orange' variants of the Arcticus.
Antarctica, Earth's southernmost continent (and twice the size of Australia!) has played host to some of Australia's most notable stories of adventure and survival, and provided inspiration for the 'Glacier Blue' and 'Blizzard White' variants.
The Arcticus is available in four colorways - Coal Black, Burnt Orange, Glacier Blue, or Blizzard White.
Additionally the Black and Orange have their own caseback design, while the blue and white has a different one.
Changes from prototypes:
First, a polished chamfer will be added to the lug, giving a subtle point of reflection and sophistication to the majority-brushed case, and matching nicely with the subtle polished details on the crown, and decorative caseback. Due to the way the lugs dive down to meet the wrist, appropriate placement of drilled holes is rather difficult, and we have decided to prioritise the polished chamfer and overall case finish, rather than proceed with drilled lugs on this model.
Second, our lume formula has been dramatically improved, with all production models also receiving the same bright handset lume (pictured above) on the sandwich hour markers.
Specs:
- Miyota 9039 high-beat, no-date movement
- 316L stainless steel case
- 40mm case diameter
- 47mm lug to lug
- 11mm total height
- 20mm lug space
- Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective (AR) coating on the underside
- Signed, screw-down crown
- Decorated 'Adder' or 'Ice' caseback artworks
- Stainless steel bracelet, with solid end-links, screw-links, and signed, milled clasp
- 150M water resistance
- Canvas watch roll
- Stainless steel camping canteen/thermos
- 2 year warranty
