Re: August 2021 Watch Fast Challenge
Day 31, finally survived. I had 6 watches arrive this month and did not wear any of them to stay in the challenge.
I really do love this fairwind, don't regret my choice at all. I will be buying a couple seaforths when the time comes because I'm so impressed by this one.

Re: August 2021 Watch Fast Challenge
Aside from forgetting to wind the watch on a couple of occasions and cursing under my breath every time I go to check the date, it's been ok. I'm definitely ready to be done with the fast. Looking forward to the G-SHOCKs arriving so I can change it up a bit.

Sounds good! I just have never quite taken to manual wind watches, particularly for daily wear. I do own two of them, but they are dress pieces that I will be putting on for a special occasion anyway.peskydonut wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:41 pmAside from forgetting to wind the watch on a couple of occasions and cursing under my breath every time I go to check the date, it's been ok. In fact, one is probably the one I'll break the fast with tomorrow.
Re: August 2021 Watch Fast Challenge
Job well done, gentlemen. I lasted like three days. Haha
Re: August 2021 Watch Fast Challenge
The fast is complete. I think the biggest lesson it taught me that I don't need to be constantly changing out watches or especially straps to keep having fun and enjoying them. I tend to be pretty frenetic about straps, and I think this has helped me realize I don't need a million options when I have one or two very, very good ones. I wore the Trident on the bracelet for probably 27 of the 31 days, simply because it was so good and so comfortable with the tool-less micro adjustments. The other days I wore it on two colors of tropic strap.
I'm really glad I did the whole challenge and I feel like it was a good little exercise in self-discipline.
I've broken the fast with my newly restored vintage Ball Trainmaster Railroad Approved. I love this piece, the classic railroad dial and that beautiful twisted lug case.

Re: August 2021 Watch Fast Challenge
I will need some time to distill my learnings from this experience. For now, I am celebrating the end of the fast by overpaying for a yellow fin tuna which is now incoming.
