Somewhat Attainable Grail Watches

Post by HonestWatchReviews »

So when people talk about their grail watches they are normally things like, an Omega or Rolex etc.

Most of the time they're are just dream watches and you'll never actually own them... But what about those watches that are somewhat attainable, albeit out of your price range at the moment.

Well my 'Somewhat Attainable Grail' watch is the automatic Straton Speciale with the Valjoux ETA7750 movement. The do have an VK67 Quartz version as well, but its the automatic with the day date complication that I want. Specifically in this colour too.

Price: $1,199

What's your 'Somewhat Attainable Grail' watch?

Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. I also like the red dial and Roberto Clemente edition, but 36mm would be the perfect size. $1750-1950 USD retail.

I just got my relatively affordable grail watch from my wife for our 20th anniversary. [emoji4]Image

Tap. Talk. Buy another watch. Repeat.

These are really nice. I've kind of got an homage to it currently.

If I can successfully sell a portion of my collection, something Omega-ish, or Cartier-ish, or Tudor-ish, or Bulgari-ish....

Same but blue.

Also a Tudor Heritage Ranger, since 1016s will soon be worth more than my car:

I wish that watch were 38mm?

I'll join Sussa and Boourns on the Oris pointer date train.
I really, really, really dislike date windows, yet quite fond of date pointers. Go figure.

So in that regards, I would also like this Mühle-Glashütte 29er Zeigerdatum.
About $2k on bracelet.

Also have a soft spot for regulators, and this particular Louis Erard Excellence Régulateur is gorgeous. And about $2,500+!!!!

For something completely different, I'd love one of these Raketa Avant-Garde watches.
Around $1,350 with euro conversion and sans VAT.

I bought my only (so far? to my knowledge) grail watch last year, the Fortis Official Cosmonauts Chronograph.

The only other watch that is conceivably in reach that I'd love to have is a Cartier Santos. But I don't think I'll ever drop more than what I paid for the Fortis on another watch.
