What makes this book worth $730?

Normally $900, don't forget.
Similar to Taschen, I imagine.
Fit & finish in book binding, materials, etc.

Its 144 pages with 100 illustrations, which is not special. Yes it is hand-bound and is a limited edition in a linen clamshell case, but this IMO is pure marketing BS, worth maybe $150. I wager I will see these on deep discount in 3 years.

The author selected 100 watches that are historically relevant (innovations,historical importance, etc) and writes a small blurb about each with mostly photos. It looks to me like a coffee table book and not a true reference or encyclopedia. Here are some sample pages:
