I know I am not the only one modding watches around here. Show ' em if you got em! I don't care if it is a simple bezel insert, or a full on build. If it ain't stock, post it up! Also, please post details(i.e. where the parts came from, specs etc).
I'll start with one that most of you have already seen. An SKX007 with a Dagaz bezel, dial, and hour and minute hands. Crystaltimes double domed sapphire with clear AR. DLW ceramic insert and signed crown. Also, a 007 second hand sourced from an illegitimate "Omega" I thought was sterile dialed.
Currently working on an 8926 build, but figured I would get this started. I will also follow up with my bezel swapped Vostoks and Seikos at some point. A simple bezel and insert swap can really make a Vostok a real looker!

Love the HMT redials. $12 watch + $12 strapsco strap = awesome sub $25 hand-wind beater. Here's a few "ORIS" beaters using similar math.

Re: Post your mods here!
Just getting into modding myself! Here's my collection of mods
Crystal Times Single Domed Blue AR Sapphire on the Ray Raven
Crystal Times Double Domed Blue AR Sapphire on the 8927OB (also plan on doing a Dagaz Dial and yobokies hands)
Purchased already modded with custom made Bezel and Dagaz insert Vostok Neptune on a custom fitted bracelet
Crystal Times Double Domed Blue AR Sapphire, namokimods Black YM Ceramic Insert, unknown hands, and unknown Crosshair dial on the SKX. I purchased it from a friend with the have and dial already on. He got the watch from the interwebs. I added the insert and crystal. I plan on adding a possible black bezel and black crown. I'll add a picture of it from when I purchased
I do have a question for you experienced guys. I need have removal and placement tools. Which do you prefer or use? I'd like to get the 8927 done soon as I may gift it to my best friend.
Thanks!

I am very much a beginner at this, so hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. That said, the bare basic tools needed are:
-Caseback removal tool(sticky ball or wrench style) https://www.esslinger.com/screw-off-back/
-Movement holder (this one is for Seiko movements https://www.dagazwatch.com/apps/webstor ... ow/7800563
-Dial protectors (you can make your own if you want) https://www.esslinger.com/bergeon-6938- ... pack-of-5/
-Hand removal tool (this is the one I use, I am sure there are better ones out there, but I am cheap) https://www.esslinger.com/watch-hand-re ... nd-puller/
-Really fine tweezers (I would probably try something like this set if I were to do it all over again) https://www.esslinger.com/epoxy-coated- ... eavy-duty/
-Hand press tool (I use this basic one , https://www.esslinger.com/watch-hand-to ... tch-hands/ but am now interested in this press style contraption considering how much of a pain in the ass the second hand is) https://www.esslinger.com/stella-euro-w ... ting-tool/
- Some Rodico putty for cleaning fingerprints off the dial https://www.esslinger.com/bergeon-6033- ... pair-tool/
- Puffer blower thingy for cleaning out dust https://www.esslinger.com/economy-dust- ... ber-5-x-2/
- And lastly a cheap watch to practice on over and over and over before you attempt it on the watch you actually want to mod. Especially the seconds hand, eff that tiny little hole!!!!

Good news is I have most of those items already since I've swapped a few crystals myself.
I just need the watch hand tools.
Was thinking about getting these. I remember watching a video and someone used this set

Nothing to add really, but I love Esslinger. Especially since they are basically in my back yard. Order stuff on Monday and it's in my hands on Tuesday.

Re: Post your mods here!
One more thing to add. MAGNIFICATION!!!!! I did my first hand swap using a pair of reading glasses from the hardware store, and it was a pain in the you know what. Just did my second hand install yesterday and having one of those goofy visors with different levels of magnification was a big help. It was still frustrating as all get out, but much easier than just basically guessing.

Re: Post your mods here!
Those look awesome! I might need to borrow those for the next solar eclipse. But seriously I need to buy some sort of magnifiers for some upcoming mods. Not sure what I'll end up with. As far as setting hands, I've never had or used one of those plunger contraptions, just the manual hand press tools. But I'd be open to getting one if it makes the job easier.Bbrou33 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 9:27 pmI just got these in over the weekend!Dub Rubb wrote:One more thing to add. Re: Post your mods here!
I've modded a few Seiko 5 watches. Here is one. You probably recognize the dial and hands from the SNK803. I matched it with the case from the SNKM79, which you don't see available very much anymore. In addition to the black case finish, its a decent size at 39mm with a 20mm lug width. I'm really glad I kept the black day and date wheels from the SNKM79. Crystal is stock for now. It started out life on leather but its been on the green canvas for a while. Every once in a while I think about modding it again, possibly like a Sinn 556a, but then I wear it again and I'm just happy with it the way it is. So for now it stays as is.
