1) Hub motors - That’s why so much talent left Tesla to start Lucid. They wanted to further the tech and Elon was more interested in milking the current tech, which is his right. The Lucid moves all that power to each wheel and can essentially be AWD and modulate the power to help with steering/handling at speed. Now that the prices are closer to $75K with ranges over 325 miles…..my next vehicle will definitely be electric.

2) Built motors. Bischoff racing built my forged motor for my Chrysler 300C SRT8. The goal was to have a 9 second 300 which would’ve been the fastest at the time. Motor could handle 15psi. We threw 11psi at it and hit over 700hp on the dyno but ran out of fuel. Backed it off to 9psi and 625RWHP and ran 10.70’s with drag radials and 1.60 60’s. I then caught the road racing bug and was done with 1/4 mile so we never went the rest of the way. Confident with a fuel system (dual pumps and larger lines), ProCharger F1 blower and upgraded rear axles we would’ve easily hit 9.99.
Damn. lol

Older gent near me has a Lucid Air that is honestly an ugly color and weird rims, but it’s obviously a high end car.

Rimac, as I'm sure you know, is the master of in-wheel/hub electric cars. Of course, they are way out of reach price-wise for us mortals.

Electric propulsion was the past, and it is the future. We just have over a century of gas-sniffing-induced ideology to work out of our systems.

^^^ Never even heard of them.

I read a book a long time ago about RG Letourneau the heavy equipment innovator from long ago.

What set him apart from everyone else was that he was a welder and knew enough about motors, generators, and template welding that he was able to build enormous machines with electric motor hubs, I think as early as 1920”s.

Ok, got her delivered today and went for my maiden voyage. 35mph is pretty wicked on a bike. I believe this is the same bike you can get on AliExpress for ~$1,150. To be fair, only the Wired Freedom and Ariel Ryder Kepler come close to this bike in speed and they’re over $2K.

ALX LINK $1,150 - https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPLF8d8

LINK where I bought $1,425 (after Discover Card and coupon K100) - https://keteles.us/products/keteles-k80 ... otor-ebike

I rode/drove 10 miles tonight…..doesn’t take long. Here’s some observations:

GOOD

1) If you’re a non-motorcycle rider (like me) I’d get a slower bike to start. My GEN3 was 24mph and I rode that for roughly a year before strattling this beast.
2) Dual 1000w motors is no joke. You can turn the front off for easy riding. The front wheel burn out is pretty cool though.
3) Hydraulic disc brakes are crazy good. You can lock up the wheels and come sliding to a stop. Good if you need it.
4) Headlight is led and crazy bright, taillight actually has a working brake light function.
5) Loudest buzzer horn ever!
6) Front adjustable fork is nice and lockout works. 4” fat tires soak up a lot though.
7) Integrated phone holder with charger another nice touch.
8) Full fenders for wet/muddy riding.
9) Twist throttle vs. thumb - much better!
10) 21 speed shimano gear set. Need it for the higher speeds.
11) Comfy seat w/ quick adjust
12) Upscale screen with good functionality, dimmer, easy to lock and unlock speed limiter.
13) Well built rear rack w/ 330# limit
14) Bars have a slight rake and makes for a comfortable riding position.
15) Battery size is VERY large at this price point. 48v/23a = 1,104 amp hours. My old bike was 480 and most in this price range are 48v/15a.
16) Very nicely packed and came with zero damage. FedEx actually took good care of this one as the box had no damage whatsoever.
17) Great fit/finish - good instruction book, but honestly I just watch the video.

SWING and MISS

1) Freebies (crappy air pump, bike lock) were pretty useless for me. Would’ve preferred a set of mirrors.
2) Most e-bikes run their wires through the frame. Not here…..they’re all zip-tied to the frame. Doesn’t bother me, but will some.
3) It’s an aluminum frame, but still heavy. 85lbs. Most budget e-bikes are 65-70#.
4) Would’ve preferred an integrated battery in frame vs. the on frame. Wishful thinking at this price.
5) Charger should’ve been a 3amp. Doesn’t really matter as I don’t quick-cycle batteries. But a fully drained 23a battery will take 11hours to charge.

All in all I’m very happy with the bike. I saw another version give its owner 3,000 trouble free miles so I’m hoping for the same. My son named it bumblebee after I sent him some pics. With this performance I’m feeling more murder Hornet 🐝 than bumblebee.

Google Home Hub on sale at Home Depot today. Sale price is $169. Regular is $229. I just picked one up for my office to replace the smaller hub I have.

Let me tell you about Temu, a China-based online marketplace that’s lousy with cheap goods. To see what all the fuss was about, I ordered half a dozen items, fully expecting to wait 3-4 weeks for them to arrive.

They arrived in six days. From China.

Interestingly, the company promises a $5 store credit if your order isn’t delivered within the specified window, which in this case was about 10 days. I received regular shipping updates via email, and in the end the parcel arrived earlier than those updates had indicated. Pretty good, Temu, pretty good.

I've ordered a few times from Temu. If you go into it with reasonable expectations, you won't be disappointed. I've enjoyed the small household items and other gadgets I've bought from the platform.

I’m ordering titanium bike hardware from Temu at present. A new rabbit hole has indeed opened. Once I get some learning from my current e-bikes I plan on building a carbon fiber framed mid-drive. Keeps me out of the bars I guess.

If you join their rewards program they take $10 OFF and link through TOPCASH for a 4.2% rebate + $2.50 bonus right now and I used my DC so 1% cashback as well - so easy to net this one to ~$640.

SPECS:

- 20*4.0 Inch Fat Tire
- 750W nominal 960w peak Motor
- 26 to 29mph top speed / throttle only

Heads Up! I Saw A Bargain Here! NON watch items

Post by Robotaz »

I bought one of these for $99.99 recently for my wife to use gardening and it’s by far my best speaker, even better than my Sonos Move. Light years over my Bose SoundTouch speakers.

$109.99 instead of $459.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/204363042981?_ ... 3e36770INT

EDIT - And I’ll add that I just finally threw a SoundTouch 30 and 2 SoundTouch 10’s in the trash. Bose is garbage and always was garbage. I’ll rebuild with something else, likely not Sonos with it’s buggy software and app. Horrible. I really think Bluetooth to 2 Onyx units blows everything else away if you just want simple, quality sound without endless bugs that have driven me insane for 10+ years.
